Chapter 26: Breakfast of Champions!
Scott and I wanted to try and get up early this morning so that we would be able to get to DHS for rope drop and secure our Toy Story fast passes early, since we would have to leave the park around noon in order to get to our lunch reservations. This would have been easier to accomplish if I had remembered to set our alarm - whoops! Luckily, I was officially on "Disney Time" by this point, and woke up around 8, an hour before park opening, and we arrived at DHS shortly after 9. As soon as we entered the park, we knew EXACTLY where we were going!
I know what you're thinking - that's not Pixar Place! Scott and I have a tradition which began in 2010 during our first anniversary trip to Walt Disney World. I'm a lot faster than Scott is, particularly since his knee injury, so while I rush off to get our fast passes for Toy Story, he heads to Starring Rolls to get us some breakfast. And oh what a glorious breakfast it is:
Yes, that is the amazing starring rolls chocolate peanut butter cupcake! Breakfast of champions!
Scott was walking out of Starring Rolls with the cupcake (in addition to a coffee for me) as I was returning with our fast passes - we scored a return time of 11:45, which worked out perfectly with our schedule for the morning. Once we were sufficiently caffeinated and on a sugar high, we booked it back over to Toy Story Midway Mania!
Hey Nemo, I found you!
I think the load area for this attraction is one of my absolute favorites in any park. You really feel toy-sized in Andy's room.
And as it turns out, all I needed to do better on this attraction was to be loaded up with sugar, because for the firs time ever, I FINALLY BEAT SCOTT!!!
(And yes, I know I only just barely beat him and my score still isn't great, but hey - small victories, haha).
We also were stopped briefly on the attraction, presumably while they loaded/unloaded someone with a disability, so since I already had my camera out to take a picture of my score, I figured I would take the rare opportunity to get a picture looking back toward the attraction.
Outside of Pixar Place, DHS was pretty empty this morning.
I love this balcony over near Pizza Planet:
We found ourselves wandering over towards Star Tours, and decided we wanted to try and get a different trip sequence than we'd had the first time.
That wasn't meant to be however, since we wound up with the EXACT same sequence (Wookie planet, Death Star), with the only difference being that Leia gave us the message instead of Yoda. We still had fun, but decided we'd have to try it again before we left in hopes of getting a different ride experience.
After we exited Star Tours, I'm sure you can imagine what our next stop was.
Remember that earlier chapter which was determined to have the most Gertie pictures ever in one post? IT'S TIME TO BREAK THAT RECORD!!
Hey girl, you're looking good.
Even though she loves supplying people with ice cream, Gertie knows the importance of eating leafy greens.
Seriously, how does one not love this glorious creature?
I wonder where Gertie was coming from before she settled in on Echo Lake. Somewhere fabulous, I'm sure.
You know what they say about big feet....Big footprints.
Just a girl and her dino:
Look into my eyes, you will see, what you mean tooooo meeeeeeeee.
Disney will have to put up more than a fence to keep me away from you!!
Even the ducks like her!
And now I have to stop because DisBoards are oppressing me with their picture limit. *sigh*
