Old Kids TV shows

I wasn't a "tv kid" when I was little.. I was either outside playing or sitting somewhere with my nose stuck in a book.. LOL..

In the evenings though I would watch "Bonanza", "Wagon Train", and "Father Knows Best" with the family..:goodvibes

Flintstones
Jetsons
Brady Bunch
Speed Racer
Dark Shadows
Mr Ed (loved this one!)

Sunday mornings included: Gumby and Pokey, and some western style show??? just remember trying to get an hour in before the Sunday School bus came. Yes, we had ss bus that picked us up and dropped us off unless we were lucky enough to go with friends to Mickey D' for the $1 meals:)

Yup, you guessed it...the mid to late 60s:laughing:

A friend and I were talking about Saturday morning cartoons the other day and how everyone we knew was allowed to watch television for hours on that one day. My parents also let us watch Creature Double Feature in the afternoon for the three or four hours it was on. Now, its a big no-no for kids to spend time in front of the television (although I still think it's one of the most fun things to do on a rainy summer day ~ stay in our jammies and order out pizza for lunch!)

Pokey and Gumby!!!! Westerns were Have Gun Will Travel And Palladin (sp?)? Don't forget Davie and Gollieth (yeah, my spelling is bad tonight!).

Wonderama! We were so excited when my neighbor was on the show with her parrots. She used to dress them up long before fashion for animals was fashionable ;).

Let's see, there was Circus Boy with a young Mickey Dollens. My friend Flicka, Fury, Rags the Tiger, Kukla, Fran and Ollie, Andy's Gang (with Andy Devine) Popeye Theater with Sally Starr, the original Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Captain Midnight, and the famous Winky Dink and You with the special screen to put over your tv screen to read the secret message.

Adult shows were Burns and Allen, Milton Burle, Ed Sulivan, I Love Lucy and Aurthur Godfrey. And I still watch reruns of the Lawrence Welk Show.

As you can see I'm older than dirt.

i was born in 1990. my favourite shows were:

madeline
captain planet
the little mermaid (series)
aladdin (series)
baby-sitters club
alex mack
doug
rugrats
arthur
the ferals
play school
raggy dolls
sailor moon

So after reading so far I may be the oldest :rotfl:

Here's my memories:

Romper Room
Sherri Lewis & Lamb Chop
Captain Kangaroo
and Jack LaLanne I always remember my grandmother doing the "hard backed chair" exercises along with the tv and he had a beautiful big white dog
so many more

I loved those shows. I remember watching them while my older sisters got ready & went to school. I would lie on the couch & exercise with Jack LaLanne. And one year she "saw" me on Romper Room & told me where to look for my birthday present!! That was the best!!!:woohoo:

Pokey and Gumby!!!! Westerns were Have Gun Will Travel And Palladin (sp?)? Don't forget Davie and Gollieth (yeah, my spelling is bad tonight!).

Liked those westerns, too. And what my Grandpa called "Smoke Gun"! LOL!:rotfl2:

One of the stations used to have Friday Fright Night. Old horror movies all night long. Loved that. We stayed up lots of Fridays being creeped out!

So I'm there with all you other OLD FOLKS!!! ;) :lmao:

*starts singing the Gummi Bears theme*

There is a cute video on youtube that has Leverage set to Gummi Bears and during the line "Bouncing here and there and everywhere" has Parker flipping through the lasers.

You guys make me feel old because I consider so many of the shows you listed as old.....as new shows! I was older than the target audience for Sesame Street and Electric Company when they came on.
I grew up on reruns of I Love Lucy, Dick Van ****. Sunday night at 7 pm we watched the Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color. Remember watching Ed Sullivan every week. And every Friday night the Circus was on TV, my mom always made popcorn for that. I was a big fan of The FBI.
Also odd now in this cable TV/satellite dish era. We had 4 channels, ABC, CBS, NBC and PBS, and that was it. I remember we had the day off from school the day of President Kennedy's funeral and I couldn't understand why all 4 channels were covering it. I guess somethings don't change, now if there is a major news story 40 channels are all covering it.

I remember
Mousercise mickey did exercise me and mom would stand in front of the tv and exercise right along with mickey
Sharon louis and Bram with the elephant
doug
Salute your shorts
Bug juice
Hey dude
the Rangers
Dumbo circus

The Elephant Show
::skinamarink a dinky dinky, skinamarikadoo, I love you!!::

Ok, I'm done.

I remember the western Sunday am show ~ Boomtown:thumbsup2 Spent half the night thinking about it:laughing:

I remember most of these shows mentioned. I loved TV as a kid. I still love cartoons (OLD ones). My favorite is the Flintstones.

I loved Sally Starr, Gene London and Captain Noah and His Magical Ark! I watch Chief Hafton (sp?) every Sunday morning and wanted to be on that show so badly. :rotfl2:
I remember reading up on Gene London after I found the DIS (and others from that area who remembered him because NO ONE here knew who I was talking about) and was excited to learn he loved Walt Disney also. :)

I also like watching The Sonny and Cher Show and The Gong Show. What?!? Those weren't really kid shows? lol And neither was Match Game? Ha! I've seen reruns of that show and wonder about all those innuendos going right over my head!

I have to say something about ZOOM since it is forever burned into my brain.....:lmao:

"Write ZOOM.....Z double O M, Box 350, Boston Mass 02134.....send it to ZOOM".

Me too! I'll probably be in a nursing home and be able to recite things from Zoom. I was so taken with Bernadette. I even had a striped shirt the color of theirs!!

I forgot Beanie and Cecil and Magilla Gorilla.

Anybody else remember Sally Starr?

Sally Starr...I loved her. Tragic type of life she seemed to have led. :( Weird, but I loved when they tossed her that leather mailbag. I loved the sound of that leather when she touched the bag. :upsidedow And to this day, I am drawn to basic tan leather purses!! :rotfl2:

So after reading so far I may be the oldest :rotfl:

Here's my memories:

Wonderama (1st host Sandy Becker) Daddy came home from work when this was on
Original Mickey Mouse Club and of course Walt Disney himself on every Sun night
The Soupy Sales Show
Romper Room
Bozo the Clown (I was in kindergarden & remember this so clearly) we went there & I did a commercial intro with Bozo for a cereal named Star Twinkles
Augie Doggie & Doggie Daddy
Yogi Bear & Boo Boo
(Best memories were all the Sat cartoons)
Ed Sullivan Show (every Sun night the family gathered around the TV & we had tuna fish salad on onion rolls)
Ted Macks Amataur Hour
then there was the show with the bandleader God I can't remember but my grandparents watched it all the time...there would be bubbles I remember that
Sherri Lewis & Lamb Chop
Captain Kangaroo
and Jack LaLanne I always remember my grandmother doing the "hard backed chair" exercises along with the tv and he had a beautiful big white dog
so many more

So many in common! Loved Wonderama!!! And Soupy Sales. :)

I claim the prize for oldest. We didn't have TV until I was 11 and I don't remember there being any kids show. However, we watched Uncle Milty. (Milton Burle) A little later we had a local show with a woman dressed as a cat, but by the time she came on, I was too old to enjoy it. Then, when I was a teen, there was the Howdy Doody Show.
It's Howdy Doody Time. Uncle Bob and Clarabell the Clown and Princess Summer Fall Winter Spring.

Carl, honey, you do win the prize!!! ;) I've heard of those classics but haven't ever seen them! :goodvibes

My grandmother was on that show. Her sister (a flim-flammer of the first order) sent in a completely fabricated 'heart-tugging' story, then didn't tell my grandmother. Family legend says they were in the audience when my Nana was called up and there was hell to pay later, but she didn't decline the prizes.

:rotfl2: what a family story ! Too bad that's not on tape :rotfl:

We called one of my grandmothers Nana & now I am Nana too :)

My coworker and I have been discussing old kids TV shows. Now I am only in my thirties, but there are a lot of older shows that I watched as a kid. Here are some of my favorites..

The New Zoo Revue
Reading Rainbow
Smurfs
Gummie Bears
Romper Room

Those are just a few..I am sure the DIS can come up with MANY more...so what were your favorites..

The New Zoo Revue
Gigglesnort Hotel
Romper Room
Bozo's Circus

I remember the western Sunday am show ~ Boomtown:thumbsup2 Spent half the night thinking about it:laughing:

My brush with fame is that I actually got to see Rex Trailer and Goldrush.

Does anyone remember "Big Brother" or was that a local show?I think it was on at noontime and we all had to stand and drink our milk in front of a picture of the President (It was Eisenhawer at that time) while some patriotic song played.

I was ON Romper Room! :rotfl: My DDad was a cameraman for the local station that produced a version and they would call whenever one of the regulars would get sick and I would fill in. I still remember the bright lights and singing "Bend and stretch, reach for the stars, there goes Jupiter, here comes Mars..."

Locally, we watched
Ray Raynor
Garfield Goose

I was in the first group who watched Sesame Street, I was 4 when it debuted. I also loved Electric Company and Zoom!

Forgot about Ray Raynor. I watched him, too! And Garfield Goose. I met Ray Raynor once. :)

Land of the Lost

Johnny Quest
Scooby Doo
LaffALympics
ABC Weekend Specials and After School Specials
Isis
Electric Company

Non-kid shows
Wonder Woman!!!

Mork & Mindy
Happy Days
Three's Company
Charlie's Angels
Love Boat
Fantasy Island

Absolutely not allowed to watch Soap!

lol we must be around the same age. And, I wasn't allowed to watch Soap, either.

Ok, here it goes:

Wonderama
Zoom
Electric Company
3-2-1 Contact (loved the Bloodhound Gang!)

Shazam! (live action)
Big Foot and Wild Boy (live action)
Jason and the Argonauts (live action) - I think that was the title
Bannana Splits

Sid & Marty Croft shows which included: Far Out Space Nuts, Sigmund the Sea Monster, etc.
Land of the Lost

Most Hanna-Barbara (sp?) cartoons. This includes from the 60's through the 80's (and I'm almost 40). Hey, the Saturday morning cartoons were RULED by HB cartoons :happytv:

The Amazing Spiderman (1960's through the 90's, can't stand the newest incarnation due to the drawing - YUCK!)
Danger Mouse
