What is the best way to get from the Hospitality check-in at OKW to DTD in the late morning? I know there's a boat, but I don't think it starts up until later in the afternoon. I'd really like to use the walkway, but isn't that at the other end of the resort? Exactly where is the walkway and how far is the walk? I'll be solo, so looking forward to the walk to justify my Ghiardelli's sundae!

if the boat is not running they should offer bus service to dtd from okw...but...if you are looking to work off a sundae then the walkway is the best bet...
have fun!!!!

We used the bus this past summer and it stopped at the HH. We took the boat ride early evening, and it was a treat. Really nice views of the resort and the young man driving was so nice. We returned after the boat quit for the evening and therefore took the bus back. Warning -- we visited (without thinking!) DD on a Saturday evening and it was CHAOS. Avoid this busy time if you cna. Much less crowded on weeknights or daytimes.

Exactly where is the closest entrance to the walkway from the Hospitality House?

You walk all the way down to South Point from the HH and walk by the pool there at South Point. You will see the walk way that goes to DD. I would say the entire walk is about 1 1/2 miles. It is a geat walk. Just follow the sighs and and stay on the right side of the waterway. Do not cross any of the bridges or go out onto the golf course. The walk way will take you to the West Side and from there you can walk the rest of the way through pleasure island and to DD.

A couple more questions if you don't mind. Where at South Point? Is it on the map? Behind the bus stop between 2 buildings (I think #52 and #53) by golf hole #3? And what about if I take a bus to DTD, then want to go back to OKW by walking? Do I walk over to the West Side? Will the pathway back to OKW be marked in an obvious way?

The pathway is located right near building 55 and 54 that are by the pool at South Point. If you take the bus then walk back the pathway starts at the West Side right at the end. The pathway does not say OKW at first but DI. Just Keep the water way to your right if you are walking back. You will see a sign saying OKW about half way back.

The bus is always running to DD. It makes a Typhoon Lagoon stop during the day as well. If you're at HH and want to get to the pathway, you don't have to walk. You can get on a bus at the Peninsular stop (across the road from the pool) and take it to South Point.

we were told in sept, while staying at okw, that the walkway to dtd is closed due to construction at the disney inst. maybe someone knows for sure if this pathway is open? we never had time to check on this for sure when we were there.

i did find it interesting to note that a bus driver was actually recommending using okw as a hub to dtd during the day to a park guest.....as this is apparently one of the fastest ways to get dtd from a park during the daytime according to the bus driver.

oh and the boat started in the late morning to dtd. i am thinking that it started at 10 or 11am.....but not for sure of the exact time.

The boat departs every 20 minutes, starting at noon. I can't remember when it stops, but it is such a pleasant trip. I did not ask, but since they are currently working on DI renovations it would not surprise me if the walkway was closed. I would call the resort to find out for certain.

The last boat finishes up around 9 or so. I remember that we planned to stay later at DD so we knew we'd have to get the bus back.

We tried the walk to DTD last week and were told the path was not open for walking past the golf house by one of the maintenance men. He did say we could walk out to the road and up to DTD, but given they are doing road updating at Hotel Blvd. and DTD, we decided not to try that way.

In addition, the Treehouse Villas loop is closed. They have the bridge blocked off, so the path is sort of a road to nowhere right now.

I was just on the path last week. It is open. You do not go anywhere near construction because you do not cross the bridge to DI. Just keep the water way on you left side going down to DD and on your right side coming back, and do not cross any bridges. Just keep walking right out to the West Side The pathway is not a path to no where. It is a great walkway to the West Side. You must have crossed a bridge to DI to run into the problems you had. Just stay on one side of the water, like I said and you will have no problems. It is one of the nicest walks at WDW. To Pam OKW-Why would anyone want to take a bus to South Point if you are going for a walk??

That is good to know, that it is still open! We usually request Southpoint area so it is a quick walk to DTD! I just wish they would light the path.

We would like to see lights on the path, too. Even during the day, I don't like to take the path alone. Scared of gators. The path is surrounded by trees, underbrush and the canal. Guess I'm chicken.
