With all of the upcoming refurbs at OKW, what can current members expect to see in their MF's?? We are looking at where to buy and are considering OKW due to DVC's recent price drop, but are concerned about and impending rise in MF's, any opinions would be greatly appreciated...

as far as i know, this is not related to a special assessment (meaning: these costs were not unexpected).

the dues have been relatively high the last few years anyway, which has included reserves for replacing and updating OKW's furnishings.

i wouldn't expect OKW's dues to change all that much.

Each year part of the dues money is put into a reserve fund for future renovations. So you will not see an increase in dues in any one year to pay for it. I own at BWV and there was a huge renovation done there last year and there was only the usual 3% increase in dues.

That is great to know, really makes our decision settled. Just spoke to my guide and we are going to give up our unsigned contract at BLT to buy into OKW. Mainly the price point that Disney is offering is just way to good to pass up at this point and we dont mind where we stay. We have been to WDW many times and like to experience a different resort each time down.

if you don't mind me asking what is disney offerring for okw? We bought ssr reslae last year. We have always stayed at oky and love it. .....we visited ssr and really didn't like the resort.....we were thinking of doing our add on at okw instead seeing as we wouldn't ever use the 11 month window anyways at ssr

Can you tell me a little about OKW? Never stayed there and I am using our 1st ressie as dvc members with 2 girlfriends leaving families at home to celebrate my friends 50th b.day. We have 6 nights booked at OKW 2 bedroom unit which I was able to use the incentive points we got from buying BLT in Feb. (told the family I had to use them before they expire in Aug lol!) They will catch on that I could have banked them but too late now! Cannot wait to go and looking for feed back on the resort!

We love OKW! You will be amazed at the size of the 2 bedroom villa. If you have a dedicated villa, the second bedroom will have a huge walk in closet as well as a standard closet. The seperate laundry room off the master bath is something we enjoy at OKW over the "laundry in a closet" at the other DVC resorts. We also love the HUGE balcony/porch. There is a table and 4 chairs out there, and the ceiling fan makes it a very pleasant place to spend the beginning and end of the day. We like South Point area the best, and buildings 45 and 46 are our favorites.

Have you looked at a resale contract for OKW? You can pick them up for a really great price right now.

I don't work there, but just take the time to click the link at the top of the page for The Timeshare Store (or check out **********.com since that's where I bought my contracts from) and check out the prices for an OKW resale contract. There is no difference in membership if you buy direct from DVC or a resale contract (you won't get the incentive cr . Just take the time to look, that's all.

we really like taking the boat from okw to downtown disney. I lovve the layed back atmosphere. It seems like you really are on vacation. We have always had views of the water feature on the golf course which is relaxing as well.

Yes we did, and if I had the $$$ to pay up front, we definitely would. But, we are going to pay it off over a couple of years and with the low cost thru Disney, we still feel like we are getting a good deal.

Right now, Disney is offering OKW for $90 a point and that is for the extended contract, thru 2057.

We just did an add-on at OKW through DVD.

Compared to a few similar available resale contracts, and they were not extended, didn't have 2009 points, and after closing costs were from $80-$85 per point. I was looking at 125 points or less.

So, paying $90 through DVD to get 2009 point and 15 extra years was pretty much as good as it was going to get.:thumbsup2

The idea of the refurb adding a sleeper chair to the living room of the 1 and 2 brs was what pushed me over the edge- there is so much more available space for something like that at OKW than AKV or BLT, I would be much more likely to actually use it regularly.

I think the addition of a sleeper chair makes OKW even more desirable. The villas are so much bigger to begin with and now having 5 in a 1 bdr at the lower point levels is very attractive. We have been members at OKW since 1992 and while we have stayed at almost all other DVC resorts, our real home is OKW.

Thank you I am even more excited now! They asked me what preferences I had (we are getted dedicated 2 bedroom) for location and I had no idea so I just told them relaxing away from it all (we will have a car) and probably a golf course view because it seemed relaxing. What views are the buildings Southpoint 45 and 46 I may call back and request them!

45 & 46 are canal views, and you can watch the boat to/from DtD.

Will they be putting in the sleeper chair before they remodel all the rooms or just as the rooms are being redone. Coming home in 33 days.:dance3:

From what I've read that will happen as they refurb the villas building by building so probably not going to see sleeper chairs beforehand and also refurb seems to be running behind schedule somewhat so don't count on it in 33 days but ya never know sometimes magic happens ! Sending pixie dust your way that it does for you pixiedust: please post back and let us know if it does :)

Ithink I would like to try OKW>
When is the projected date for all refrub. to be done??

WOW that is great, I think I like the location of 45 and 46 I am calling to request that thanks again!
