Old Key West Refurb question

That's debateable. I don't care for the bedding OR the headboard. They don't really look like they fit the theme as well as the old ones. I'm glad they at least stuck to the Key West color scheme though. Not loving the sleeper chair either. I was hoping they would at least make it look like it fit the theme, but it just looks like a big brown lump!

The chairs seem to be the old ones recovered and painted.

lol just goes to show that Disney can't make us all happy. I agree that the headboard is not really what I would think of when I think of key west. For some reason I think of the Golden Girls lol, but I do prefer the style of the new headboards to the old ones. Though since I probably won't stay at OKW anytime soon and you probably will, I'm sorry you don't like the changes.

Well, let's say I don't like what I can tell from the video. I'm going to reserve complete judgement until I see it in person in December. I'm just really bummed that they changed the neat paint effect in the bathroom. I LOVED that wall, and now they went and painted it a solid color!

I hate all the brown/black in the renovated villa. They just don't fit the scheme. The current colors are so pretty and Key West-like. The dining table and chairs are so pretty now. They have ruined them. We really don't need all that Mickey theming at OKW like they have at Pop Century and All Stars.

I also wonder why they even bothered with the roman shades only on one set of windows (I know it's the patio door, but why not for all the windows. They are a lot less private, though.

Obviously you didn't read your updates from DVC LOL! It was announced quite some time ago. It makes sense to have a sleeper chair in those huge rooms, but did it have to be so ugly?

Buildings 30, 31, 32, 33, 40 & 43...I've heard that they are finishing buildings 41 and 42

Just got back on the 1st from a week in building 41. Trust me...it hasn't been refurbished yet... It certainly needs it though.... probably next on the list.

They were working on building 42 while we were there though... It was tough to watch all that nice stuff being moved in right across the way!

Nope. They are adding the ugly sleeper chair to the one and two bedroom villas. The studios will keep two queen beds thank goodness.

No, they can't change the configuration in that way. As Deb and Bill said, they took out the nice living room easy chair and ottoman and replaced it with a very ugly sleeper chair.

Hi, I'm very new to this board and planning a first-time trip to OKW in January, grand villa. According to the map and the yellow areas indicated as GV, am I correct in thinking the only GVs currently refurbished are in Bldg. 43? If I am correct, I want to request that building. By January, most of the resort should have completed the rehab. I think the entire rehab is scheduled for completion by early spring 2011.

I am calling member services today to request a refurb room. I have 2 teens -13 year old boy & 17 year old girl and they do not appreciate having to sleep in the same bed! I don't care what view we have but since we also have a stroller, first floor is a plus!
