OKW to VWL

We are awaiting our closing, sent the papers and the check today!!

We are hoping to make a trip to OKW the second week in Sept. We want to eat on our arrival night at the Whispering Canyon. Could someone tell me the easiest way to get from OKW to VWL please. Thanks!!

Will you have a car? If so, it's very simple -- I'll give you directions if you do have a car. The next quickest way is to take a cab. Third, is to take the bus to MK (make sure the park is open) and the board the boat to VWL. An alternate is to take the bus or OKW ferry to DD and then take the VWL bus from there.

Be warned, going resort-to-resort can take up to 1 1/2 hours.

Basically, you follow the bus route that OKW takes to the MK. Let me check a map so I can give you the right roads. It's pretty easy!

Come out the main gate of OKW onto Community Drive and turn left. You'll come to Bonnett Creek Parkway (probably the way you came in). Turn right and travel to the end of the road. You'll pass the PO Resort. At the end, turn left (I think this is Vista Blvd.) You'll pass the Bonnett Creek Golf Course and you'll have a guard shack near the Ft. Wilderness campsite. There shouldn't be any problem at the guard station if you have your resort ID in the window. Continue on this road also until the end. Turn right (I'm not sure the name of this road but it is the main road leading into the MK resort area). Follow this a short way where they'll be an intersection with a light (I think it's the first one). To the left is the Poly. To the right is Timberline Trail, the roadway into the WL. If you are in front of the Contemporary, you've gone too far.

This should take roughly 10 minutes.

Coming back, this is a little tricky because you cross the traffic coming in from the main parking gate in order to get back onto Vista.

Pam OKW is right on the money as usual.. We have made that drive many times. As she said, coming back is a little tricky. I have to admit I have gotten screwed up several times. When all else fails, follow the signs to Downtown Disney and you will get back to OKW. Hope you get into OKW. We love the resort and will be there 3 nights in October and 4 nights in November.

I have found knowing what "park area" each resort is associated with is the key to resort hopping. Keep in mind OKW as said is a "Downtown Disney Resort" and WL is an "MK resort". That knowledge will get you to any resort (as the resort specific signs are only once you are very close).

Car navigation is super easy down there if you know "park areas"

Pam gave excellent direction on the shortest way to get from OKW to VWL.

If by chance you find yourself coming from another direction, you can come up World Drive and when you get to the "toll booths" , go to the farthest one they allow on your right. Then immediately after clearing those booths, you will bear right and be on that road that Pam mentioned. The first stoplight is Timberline Trail...go right and you're there!
