how does the OKW slide compare to SSR. I have kids 6,6 10 and they want a fun slide where we stay this summer, and BVW's slide looks too big/scary for the younger ones--yes??

I have not used the slide at OKW. However I have heard from several people that while the slide at BWV is really long, it is not particularly fast. So it should not be too scary for the little ones. Perhaps a BWV owner can comment....

OKW's slide is enclosed and pretty fast. I don't remember SSR's slide, so it must be pretty tame.

I have seen kids younger than 6 go down the BWV slide, my DD included. AKV's slide is pretty tame. WL's side is medium fast. BCV's main slide is fast and long and your kids need to be strong swimmers. The kiddie slide is bo-ring, but my DD liked it when she was little.

I have NOT been on the OKW slide... But I will say I was really impressed with SSR's. It was longer and curvier than I had anticipated, caught me off guard actually. lol Fun! My older two boys (ages 8 & 6) enjoy it!

I asked my 3 kids who are still awake (and who are supposed to be asleep, LOL!) and here are there answers:

DS14: OKW slide is themed better (sandcastle is cool) has lots of twists in it. BWV slide is longer than OKW but I still like OKW better. OKW rocks. I don't think anyone should be scared of the BWV slide, though.

DS12: Saratoga has better theming. It feels outdoorsy and relaxing, and is funner than OKW. OKW's kiddie pool is the lamest ever! SSR is way better for the little kids because the Donald stuff is fun for them plus they can play right in the big pool in the shallow part. BWV slide is better than OKW but not as good as SSR.

DS9: I really like OKW because it has the sauna in the lighthouse and I like being warm. I like BWV's pool because it has the roller coaster slide, which is better than the SSR's slide, but I like the SSR pool because they always play all sorts of fun games there. If you were say age 7 to 10 you'd like the BWV slide better. If you were like 4-6 you'd like the SSR slide a lot, and OKW is kinda in between, it doesn't really matter, it's still a good slide though.

So there you have it...:confused3

LOVE that they had so much to say about it!! :goodvibes Lucky them that they have been on so many slides! My kids need to catch up- they've only experienced BC slide- which they love, but you DO need to be a good swimmer and it IS fast!!:woohoo:

OMG, the slide at BWV is definitely NOT too scary for the average 6 year old. My kids LOVE that slide (ages 4, 6, and 7 when we last stayed at BWV) and they all did that slide ALL DAY LONG. :lmao: :rotfl2: Most of the kids on that slide seemed to be in that age range. Lots of little ones with life vests on, etc.

My kids pride themselves on their pool ranking system :rotfl2: :lmao: (can you say DISers in the making???). Seriously, they have ranked and rated each resort by (1) overall resort; (2) best pool; and (3) best slide. Yes, they have separate categories for the pool vs. the slide. BWV wins hands down for the slide. (Note: we have yet to stay at BCV with the kids so that has not been added to the mix yet.) For overall pool, they like SSR. VWL comes in last for them...both for pool and slide. However, they did give it "atmosphere points" (I told you, they are SUCH DISers in the making!) because of the waterfall and geiser. OKW ranks in the middle of the pack for both pool and slide.

FYI--if any of your kids are non-swimmers, the zero-entry at SSR is a great bonus.

I (as an adult, in body and age at least) think the OKW slide is more fun that the BWV one. Just don't lay your head down on it, I got whacked when I did that. It's very curvy on the way down. The one I find most lame is the AKL one. Looking forward to the opening of Kidani Village at AKV for better water features.

These poor kids really have a tough life, they can rate 3 different pools at WDW without batting an eye. When I was a kid, our big yearly vacation was visiting family friends 2 hours from home!

Yeah, I know. I'm pretty sure the reason they get to go to WDW so much is that I'm trying to make up for NEVER having gone when I was a kid, so they just have to humor me and tag along on MY trips!

You're absolutely right, BroganMc; they "negotiate" like politicians continuously!
