OKW slide latest rumor

As it stands now, BCV guests have zero reason to hop.

I can think of a couple reasons:

1) Pool hopping to MK pools on days when they do the MK park. Members here have said that they do this - pack swimsuits in the morning, head over to the Poly or WL at 1:00, swim for a few hours and head back.

2) I think there aren't many, but members who prefer other pools. Someone here has kids who prefer the BW slide to SAB and so hop over to BW. I'm not a SAB fan (I think its really hard to watch your kids there - and that lazy river is very deep) and I think that some parents may choose to hop when their kids are at the "independent but watch them" age in the pool - but they still want a slide (so the don't do the BCV quiet pool). Now young kids and the sandbar - all over that. Young kids and the kiddie slide....great. Older kids who don't need an eye on them - lots of fun.

I doubt many DVC members hop. And I agree that probably fewer BCV guests hop than other members. But I'm pretty sure a few do.

Also, I think 100 people average a day to SAB is believeable. There are 1000 DVC rooms on site now. Say the average room holds four people. That would be 4000 DVC members. If, on a given day, 1% of them hop somewhere, thats 400 people - with SAB being the likely most popular destination. Pool hopping does't have to be very popular to have a big impact on the pools.

Somehow, the original post updating information about a slide at OKW has gone into a pool hopping discussion! And I'm as guilty as anyone of participating in that.

But as long as we're here :) , Dean....I don't disagree with your response to my comments. I think we said the same thing....pool hopping will continue as long as it's a viable sales pitch. My guess is that there might not be a need to restrict pool hopping at SSR until the entire complex is at least more than half built. After all, they are building the pool to service the entire, finished, SSR aren't they? So crowding should not be a problem until the SSR complex is nearing completion, unless they get a lot of DTD trespassers!

crisis...you mentioned two reasons why we have pool hopped. We have done the MK - Poly pool - MK pool hop and it worked out great! Also, we just like to see other pools as part of exploring WDW during our trips. And while we love the WL pool, the slide is not much of a challenge for teens. :)

This is true. I said recently on another thread that I actually had a dream the other night about the dreaded deep section of SAB. :o
My soon to be 6 year old is a very good swimmer, but with a 3 year old also it is hard to keep up at SAB with all the twists and turns. My oldest doesn't want to just hang out in the sandbar area. So in other words, both myself and my hubby have to be "working" and we can't take turns relaxing in a chair.

Regardless, I still wouldn't bother with the hassle of pool hopping even if we were at MK and wanted a break. I'd much rather be able to go to my room to change and regroup for the evening.

And DrTomorrow, it was me. ;) LOL

Maybe our family is the minority, but we love to PH everywhere. We stay at OKW and PH every trip. We also spend full days swimming at OKW. (We stayed at AKL for one night and swam there). We have PH at every resort except All Star and CBR. We have only been to SAB twice, but the same can be said for BW and the Poly.

I would hate to see PH stopped but if it is no big deal. We will just spend more time at OKW.

I do think that if we can not PH to SAB than folks staying at BCV should not be able to hop to other places. Same if that is going to happen to SSR. JMO.

Dean, I might agree with that. In talking to my friend I might have misunderstood whether that was an average or the most they had on any given day. I can find out later, he is out of town right now.

I just know he would be honest with me as there would be no reason not to, as we were not arguing the point just talking about surveys and such.

We might be saying similar things but from oposite directions. I'm saying I think the program is doomed if SSR isn't included, at least without BCV in the mix. Then there's no reason to use it as a sales pitch and that too will start.

I'm sure your friend was being honest. I'm just questioning the validity of the info he was given. I could buy the max of 100 and unfortunately, the higher numbers are likely to occur at time that are busier overall such that even if the average is only 25 per day, that could be a big issue.
