OKW seems noisy......anyone else feel this way?

I stay in a one bedroom, 2 bedroom or GV all the time but I did hear some family in one of the studios sreaming at their kids. But that was only while we were sitting in the living room. At any rate they went to sleep early probably from being at the parks all day long like a lot of people in the studios.

I have never found it prticularly over-noisy, but I have had some styas where the aboe neighbors were a little rambunctious. I am probably not the best person to ask this question, though, because I am a very heavy sleeper. It would have to be REALLY noisy for me to think it's noisy!

Why not pack or buy those disposable foam ear plugs when you get there? The landscaping is beautiful at OKW, and it's that way because of a routine maint schedule. We can't expect to be surrounded by beauty without some noise associated with equipment used by landscaping and maintenance crews. JMHO.

About a year and a half ago we got woken up almost every morning by the sound of power sanders. They were stripping the old paint on all the stairs and balconies. About a year after that nightmare we requested a building that wasn't being painted. Well we moved in and two days latter guess what... POWER SANDERS and scraping again!

I love OKW but that really bugged me.

just what I expected -instead of reponding to the post a number of cheap shots taken to Boardwalk. For the record we've stayed at OKW and encountered the same situarion.

The only noise you here is the sound of an occasional bus. But for some reason Disney buses sound so much nicer than city buses.

You're getting bent out of shape because TWO posts mention that they've experienced more noise at BWV then at OKW ? And neither one I'd classify as "cheap shots".

Can't wait till you experience your first Room Size, Point Totals or Length of Hallways threads.

While staying at OKW last November, we were in a studio and I could hear the next-door family while I was in the bathroom. Upstairs was quiet and the only way I heard outside noises -- buses and leaf blowers -- was if I had the balcony door open.

FYI, get a white noise machine. These are WONDERFUL and we never travel without ours. You select a sound (ocean, rain, etc) and can adjust the volume. While traveling we put ours on louder because we like to sleep in and Disney is an early-morning noise kinda place. We usually select "ocean" (rain makes me need to go to the bathroom :)) and crank it up and we joke that the family in the next room will hear it and dream they are on the Titanic...

We had the same problem at HH, which is certainly not a "noisy" resort. We had a very inconsiderate family staying in the studio next to us. They even allowed their children to skateboard on the balcony at 11:30 at night! At OKW we have only heard lawnmowers at 8:00 AM, but we were on our way out anyway. We had neighbors both times in the studio next to our 1 bdrm, but we didn't hear them.

A few years ago we were in a GV and were in one evening just watching TV and others sitting around the big dining table talking at around 10:30pm. Some of us walked to balcony or fridge and back. Most floor is hardwood in the OKW GV and we just walked back and forth. Well, the neighbors downstairs knocked on our door and shouted at us to stop walking around as they had a 6 am flight in the AM. First, we were mortified that we were a bother to anyone, second, we just felt bad, third, we all looked at all of us, a bunch of 40 and 50 somethings and laughed.......we were walking and that was it, and that is all it took to raise cain at our age. The hardwood floors on floor two must always be a noisey factor for all underneath. Believe me, I sometimes wish we were a group of partyiers......not the old farts that our kids call is!

I have stayed at OKW twice, once is a studio and once in a one-bedroom. I will say the one and only drawback for both stays (which was otherwise fantastic) was the noise that came through the door that adjoined to other rooms. I could literally hear every word the other folks next door were saying. I stuffed a towel under the door which helped and fortunately they weren't up late so it wasn't more than an occational annoyance. I'm just glad it wasn't a couple on their honeymoon!

Thanks for the great advice from everyone! We are in a lockoff. Tommorow we will try that towel thing. I told DW that makes sense, especially hearing the door slam. The air between the lockoff doors can easily cause this.

Another thing, spring break has sprung here and their are a few wild ones here. But most we have encountered have been well behaved and mannerly.

Colleen, thanks for the tip on the machine. We will be investing in one before next trip in Oct.

You can also try setting the air blower to "ON" instead of just "AUTO". That will also create some white noise that can help cover transient background sounds.

Enjoy your stay!

Thanks for the suggestion Doc, we just flipped it on. Hopefully that will help us get some extra sleep in the morning.

We stayed in a studio in January and I thought it was noisy. I have stayed at VWL, BCV and BWV and I thought OKW was the noisiest. Yes, we had noisy neighbors (who tried to break in to our room:eek: ) but the noise that was really bothersome was the early morning golf carts driving by. I was really surprised by how much noise we could hear in our room. I was up by 6:30 every morning, I would start to hear the golf carts around 5am.

The fan to ON position did the trick.

Now if we could just get the kids to be quite:teeth:

How about those power leaf blowers? Thise things should be outlawed.

I also just returned from OKW. This was my 3rd trip there and ours was also noisy. We were in 5026 and heard every bus go by and landscape workers very early. Our other 2 trips were quiet, but not this time. We were in a studio and had 3 problems upon check in which were taken care of quickly when reported-the commode would not flush until you pushed the button 10 times, the light was out at the front door, and the carpet was wet at the front door-the weather stripping had come off and allowed water to come in when they washed the porch.

Noise! What noise? We live in the country. OKW is actually much more quiet.
