We will be at OKW in Feb and I did not make any another special room requests beside Non-Smoking. Can you make a request for a certain area of OKW? Like SSR would have DD view in their requests. I would like to have a 2BR near a golf course view and somewhat closer to the hospitality house. Can anyone get me idea of request to fit that need and then can I call back and add on to the reservation requests now?
Thanks!
I know there are plenty of OKW vets out there, Please help! :bitelip:

You can make the request of near HH and golf course view, but at this late date, you will be far behind those who requested that same thing 10-11 months ago.

We used to request an area at OKW, but for the past couple years, we have taken our chances and just requested NS for medical reasons. I have NEVER been dissapointed. Sure, some are better than others, but I've never had anything I would even remotely call bad. HH is just a quick bus ride away on ANY bus if you don't care to walk. Even from the farthest reaches of the resort, the walk is going to be about 10-15 minutes.

If the view and location are important to you, I would call back and request exactly what you mentioned here, 2 bedroom, near HH with a golf course view. Remember that it is just a request, and that near HH is the most commonly requested location so there is a chance you may not get it.

We were just at OKW and were in building 16. This building, and the ones next to it, would fill your requests.

Having said all that, there are no "bad" buildings or locations at OKW.

This map might help.

BTW, some of the best golf course views near HH we have had were in buildings 16,20,21,22,15,64 and 13

Sorry, but what does HA stand for in your key? I'm curious b/c we're staying at OKW in March.

HA=Handicapped Accesible.

I would also suggest you request exactly what you said "golf course view near HH".

We like the Southpoint area...it's a little queter, near a pool and a bus sotp, but not near the HH.

We have also been in the buildings which overlook the canal, which I thought was quite nice too.

Truthfully, there is not a bad view at OKW.

I am confused by your first paragraph. Disney does not honor requests based on when your reservation was made. In fact they are using a system now to assign as you check in.

Sammie, I do think the assignments seem to be made beforehand. The guidebook says to make your requests at the time you make the reservation. If you change your request, you are, in essence changing a part of the reservation, because they then have to note it. I have always gotten my requests when I have asked for "South Point", or near another guest, and I have always made my requests when I reserve at the 11 month mark. Last time when I asked the CM if we got our requests, she said, "of course"! :flower:

Actually DVC member reservation "Used to be" blocked by creation/booking date, but they are not anymore. They currently are using room ready which means that unless you have a medical need in your request or you are traveling with other people your room is not pre-assigned regardless of when you booked or what your requests are. So it would not matter if you requested these things 11 months out or 2 days out your chances of getting your requests are better based on what time you arrive at the resort to check in.

Room Ready is used very inconsistently. We checked into a BCV studio for one night (a Saturday) in December. Check-in was at 9:30am. CM told us "your room isn't ready, but you did get the Epcot view that was requested."

In this case we had to wait until our room was ready around 3pm. And, yes, we did have a very nice Epcot view.

The next day we checked into SSR around 10:30am. In that instance, the CM told us there were three rooms ready that matched our room booking (dedicated 2B) and we were allowed to choose which one we wanted. Room Ready.

As for the original question, I don't think there's any harm in adding the requests now. There doesn't seem to be any evidence to support that making a request 11 mos out is more effective than 30 days. In fact in the first example above, we added the "high floor, Epcot view" to our reservation less than 30 days before check-in.

I think it depends on the occupancy level of the resort and the discresion of the front desk. Last May our room at OKW was assigned at check-in, we didn't get our first floor request, we got there around 7:00pm. In December at BWV, our room was preassigned.
