We will be going back to WDW in October and are taking my Niece and Nephew. We will be in a 2 bdrm. Does anyone have any suggestions as to a location that is good? We have stayed in studios in bldgs 24 and 25 and love that location! :thumbsup2 Are there 2 bedroom suites in each bldg? Thanks in advance for any advice!!!!

Will there be anyone sleeping on the sleeper sofa in the living room? If so, I suggest Bldgs 30 and above, that way there is an entrance to the master bath through the laundry room. Bldgs 29 and below access the master bath only through the master bedroom.

Personally I like the Turtle Pond area, or bldg 55, right on the canal. But anywhere in the resort is fine, really.

Got to agree with Chuck about building 30 and above. The connecting door through the laundry room to the master bath is a real convenience.

We also like the Turtle Pond location. Its convenient to the quiet pool and the bus stop, yet out of the way.

One of the things we like about Old Key West is that there's really no wrong answer to the which building question. For many years we stayed wherever they put us and found things we liked about each different location--with the possible exception of building 22 where I almost got nailed with a golf ball. Eventually we found that we prefer buildings 11 and 13 and try to get there. They are close to the large pool and Olivia's and there's very little road noise and lots of privacy on the balconies.

I was just in bldg 30 and loved it! I had a 1 bedroom...not sure if they have the 2 bedroom available but this location was great. It is Turtle Pond...not too far of a walk to the hospitality building.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the suggestions! There will be 5 of us- 2 adults in the master suite and 3 children in the second bedroom. Am I correct to assume that all of the second bedrooms have 2 queen beds, or is that something I need to ask for? We like bldgs 22-26 because that is the first bus stop picking up and the first to drop off (98% of the time). We have never stayed at OKW in October before, does anyone know how crowded the resort is?:confused3 We have always stayed here in December. Thanks!!!

Yes, all OKW 2 bedrooms have 2 queen beds in the second bedroom. October is a good time. We were last there in October 2 years ago, and it was full to capacity, but most DVC resorts are at that time of year.

Full to capacity:scared1: Does that mean that I may have a difficult time booking at the 7 month window?:confused3

No, it just means by the time you get there, most of the units will be occupied. DVC is designed to always have full occupancy.

We prefer the Turtle Pond or Southpoint area. Cl;ose to quiet pools and bus stops, and not so noisy. Also, the separate master bath entrance, as another poster pointed out, is in the buildings numbered 30 and up. Nice if you have osmeone sleeping on the couch.

We stayed in the 27 section last year and that was a 2 bedroom. We love that section because of the bus convenience and have requested it again for this July. Good luck!

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. I looked at the map of the resort and bldg 26 or 27 look like a perfect location, close to the 1st bus stop and close enough to the HH if we need to go there. Does anyone know if each bldg has 2 bedroom suites in them?

There are two OKW threads (one coded map and the other a detailed list of each buildings configurations) on the DISboards somewhere. I'm too feeble to post them. Can someone do this for LoverofDisney?

Try keying in OKW room configuration in the search engine. There are two bedroom suites in all OKW buildings.

I cut and pasted it.

NOTE: This is an original from Webmaster Doc The link for the coded map is not coming up though. Boy I wish I was more skilled. If I've done something against DIS rules, and I suspect I might have, someone please post the link for both. Thank you.

I (edit: Webmaster Doc, see above) spent a couple of hours last week doing a survey of the buildings at OKW. There are seven different configurations. I have assigned a letter designation to each type described below (these are my own observations and are NOT official.) All room rooms are numbered from right to left as you look at the building from the parking area. Each floor will be numbered by building number, floor and room. The studio on the lower right first floor of building 16 is #1610. The 1BR next door is #1611.

GV's are found in Buildings 15,16,19,22,25,29,43,48,49,51,53 and 63.
Smoking Optional buildings are 12,19 and 41.

All of the following descriptions are listed from right to left, as you face the building from the parking area.

Type A buildings are all 3 stories.
1st Floor- S,1,2,2,2,1,S
2nd Floor- S,1,2,2,2,1,S
3rd Floor- 2,2,2
Buildings 13,20,21,23,26,27,28,32,33,34,36,37,39,41,42,45,46 ,47,50,52,54,56 and 62 are all Type A.

Type B buildings are all 2 stories.
1st Floor- S,1,2,1,S
2nd Floor- S,1,2,1,S
Buildings 11,17,24,30,31,40,44 and 55 are all Type B.

Type C buildings are all 3 stories.
1st Floor- S,1,2,2,1,S
2nd Floor- S,1,GV,GV,1,S (#6322 is a HCA GV)
3rd Floor- GV, GV (upper floors)
Buildings 15,16 19,22,25,29,43,49,51,53 and 63 are all Type C.

Type D buildings are all 3 stories.
1st Floor- 2,1,S,S,1,1,S,S,1,2
2nd Floor- 2,1,S,S,1 1 S,S,1,2
3rd Floor- 1,S,S,1 1 S,S,1
Buildings 14,18,35 and 38 are all Type D.

Type E- #48 is a 3 story building.
1st Floor- S,1,2,2,2,GV (#4815 is a HCA GV)
2nd Floor- S,1,GV,GV,GV,GV(upper Floor)
3rd Floor- GV,GV,GV (upper floor of all)

Type E- #49 is a 3 story building.
1st Floor- S,1,2,2,2,1,S
2nd Floor- S,1,GV,GV,GV,1,S
3rd Floor- GV,GV,GV (upper floor of all)

Building 48 and 49 are the only Type E buildings and each has a variant configuration.

TypeF is a 3 story building.
1st Floor- S,1,2,2,1,S,1,S
2nd Floor- S,1,2,2,1,S,1,S

Gary has prepared a coded map of OKW with smoking villas, GVs and HC accessible buildings noted.

Enjoy!
