I'm curious - how are you feeling with it all? Meaning those who ADORED OKW since you've owned DVC. (Diane? :lmao::goodvibes;))

Have you stayed in the renovated rooms? Did it change things for you or not at all?

I guess I'm wondering the "feeling" the new design has on what I love about OKW. The light and airy feeling. Do you walk in and feel the same?

Curious.

To us the new rehab (at least for a Studio) did not give us the "OKW feeling" It was more like any run of the mill modern Beach Resort rather than turn of the century OKW. It isn't awful, but it isn't as well themed. Liked the original decor better. And the studio seemed much noisier, more sound echoed from the one bedroom next door, I assume because there isn't as much carpet to absorb the sound in the One Bedroom living room

I need to stay in one to give an honest opinion, but I can tell you I am NOT impressed with the pictures I've seen. They don't seem to fit the theme.

Thanks guys.

I was afraid that would be the answer. I like OKW for the feeling that it gives/gave. When I see the pictures I am really missing the whitewash and the light table. I don't like the floor one bit. But I was hoping that in person it still felt _____________. I don't even know the word. All I know that one of my first DVC stays was at OKW and I was overwhelmed and didn't move - in complete awe can't move mode - mind you it was in building 45 which is quite a view. Even though it has been years since I stayed I still remember the feeling vividly.

And yes it matters because I love to hang out. No better place to do that room-wise than OKW (BWV is my first love). But OKW - oh the balconies. Sighing.

Diane when are you going again? I'm anxious to see how you feel. Unless you request a non-renovated room. Smiling.

We just returned from 7 nights in a renovated GV. I didn't care much for the pictures I'd seen before we went, but, I have to tell you, the changes didn't impact me as much as I thought they would. The unit was nicely painted and clean. The living room area is actually very nice. New upholstery is attractive. I like the braided area rug. I really liked the new coverings on the french doors, although, as someone mentioned, the mechanisim to raise and lower them takes forever. The granite in the kitchen doesn't make much of an impact - it's nice, it's there. I do like the new carpet. The new bedspreads - yawn. I do not like the dark headboards and repainted mirror frames in the bathroom. There is just so much that was not changed that I think some of us have worried too much about the whole renno. It wasn't that big of a deal. Oh, and one last insignificant detail - they replaced the "milk can-like" lamp on the end table between the sofa and the love seat with a cute, but puny, life-guard stand lamp. It's beachy, has a cute Mickey head cut-out in the back of the chair, but it's not large enough to anchor that space.

Thanks guys.

We will be there the first week of December, and we have requested 45 or 46, which I know have been renovated.

Diane,

I am eagerly awaiting your opinion on the reno. We have not stayed in a renovated room either, but I share you "concerns" -- I hope that the feel is not gone.

We will be at WDW in December, but will be at BLT for my daughter's wedding. :scared1:

Congrats on your DD's wedding at Disney! I always hoped one of mine would do that, but DD is not married (not likely to happen anymore, since she is over 40), and DS has never married anyone who is into Disney, even though he is.

I just took a sunset photo. The sky had the original OKW colors in it. Beautiful peachy pink and turquoise blue. I'm afraid I'm going to miss those colors in the villa.

We will be checking into OKW on Sunday, have booked a 1,2 and GVc hoping to see the reno's..I know I am going to hate not having the blinds on the balcony window/door..other than that will just have to see...

mac_tic..Our daughter is getting married at Epcot next week, that is why all the bookings...so excited, A WDW wedding in December..Beautiful

We were just there in late August, but stayed in bldg 11, which was not yet renovated.

Our next trip is in November. Booked HH area again. I'm somewhat underwhelmed by the photos I've seen. I hope we will like the changes more when we actually see them in person.

Best of luck with the wedding !! My daughter just got her Event quote -- OMG --- My daughter is having her reception in the Napa room at the Contemporary -- from 6 - 10PMm -- mainly so she can see and hear holiday Wishes during the reception. It's something she has always planned for. She even picked the date so that there would not be a MVMCP -- so Wishes is at the "right" time.

:rotfl2::lmao: Oh how this thread is going so many places!!! :rotfl2:

Congratulations on all the weddings. :lovestruc

Diane yours made me choke with laughter since I'm 43 and have never been married. I laughed and laughed that I wanted Diane's thoughts on the OKW renovations and I got her thoughts on my chances of ever getting married. :rotfl: (Yes yes I'm aware you weren't talking about ME but it still made me laugh)

I LOVED it. Sort of. :rotfl:;);););)

I am an OKW owner and hope they didn't mess things up after the renovation. I liked it the way it was. I'll be terribly upset if they did the wrong thing with this place.

Do either of you have OKW vacations booked? If so, come back and let me know. Thank you.

(BEASLYBOO - Hi! :flower3: and enjoy your SSR trip. Window and lighting fixture pictures pretty please. :rotfl2: HUGE WINK. )

Lisa, you're the reason I even notice light fixtures now! :lmao:

I had OKW res. for Nov but extra family is coming so I didn't want us to be at seperate resorts so we are back at SSR once again! I'm looking forward to that DTD view again, crossing my fingers! Now I have to wait till June to personally see the changes at OKW.

P.S. Lisa, It's not too late, even if I am well passed the "spinster" stage, if I ever do get married, it'll be at Disney!
