OKW renovations: Anyone prefer the changes in person?

Having been a member since 92 I'm not thrilled with the rehab, it's loosing that OKW feeling, it just does not fit...

Okay unmarried 40 somethings. Start saving for your Disney wedding now. My SIL got married at the age of 44. A cousin of mine waited til she was 41 and another at 52. These were all first time marriages. They also have some of the best relationships I have ever seen.

Lisa, you're the reason I even notice light fixtures now! How proud am I. :lmao: How proud. :worship:

I had OKW res. for Nov but extra family is coming so I didn't want us to be at seperate resorts so we are back at SSR once again! And would we be actually uploading pictures this time? Or simply teasing us all. :goodvibes;) I'm looking forward to that DTD view again, crossing my fingers! Nice. Have a wonderful time BEASLYBOO Now I have to wait till June to personally see the changes at OKW.

P.S. Lisa, It's not too late, even if I am well passed the "spinster" stage, if I ever do get married, it'll be at Disney!

OMG. I am asking about OKW and now I'm a spinster. :rotfl2: :rotfl: ;) :lovestruc.

Where at Disney BEASLEYBOO? Do you have a place in mind?

Me I'm no fun at all. I'm not into weddings. I'm sure I would be the eloping type. All eyes on me would send me into cardiac arrest. And what kind of honeymoon would that make? :lmao:

Aren't you sweet. :goodvibes Seriously.

I'm wondering though if I need to change the title of this thread. :rolleyes1 ;)

Let's see "I thought my life was great until I asked about a DVC resort renovation". ;)

We are at OKW right now (# 39) in a 2-bedroom unit. We've owned since 1994 and have stayed here many times. My wife and I really like the new decor! Everything seems to flow together (even the dark table tops). The only thing that we're not thrilled with are the new blinds on the doors going out to the porch - they are pretty but a pain to open and close.

I don't mind the look of the table top being dark, and I like the wood floor look, but I don't care for the look of the bedrooms or that carpet. It just doesn't fit the theme. And that ugly brown chair!!!! They seem to have used the same fabric on the one in the bedroom too.

I didn't mind the dark table either. The chair looks a little better in person. There's a subtle herringbone pattern in the fabric, and they did use the same fabric in the bedroom. The chair itself is actually comfortable to sit in. But it doesn't fold back well. We were continually giving the seat cushion "a kick" to reposition it. Painting the TV cabinets bothered me more than I anticipated.

Interesting. I just don't feel brown herringbone fits the Key West 1900 theme at all. And orthgonal design carpet is out of character too. In reality, a floral or print would be more in keeping with the look.

I don't disagree with you - at all. But it is what it is, and we're going to have to live with and make the best of it. You know what my biggest "what the?" moment was - that the granite, though very nice, didn't make that big of an impact.

I admit I don't care for the pictures. I thought OKW decor was perfect as it was.

But I'm willing to give it a chance. Don't get the bed spreads at all!

They look like the bedspreads from the Vero Resort!

Exactly, and that is why it no longer fits the theme of 1900 Key West. The old ones looked like a Victorian pieced quilt....exactly what would have been appropriate for 1900 Key West.

Nice to hear.

You know what's interesting - after I started this thread I went over to another website (allearsnet) and did the OKW slide show and it was very strange. By itself I'm not a fan of the new suites. However and I'm laughing - it was weird - seeing them both in tandem - well it definitely grew on me. I actually love dark furniture but I was not thrilled at all about bringing it into OKW. But even that - seeing the before and after - didn't bother me as much as seeing only the new.

I don't think I'll ever like the colour choice in the laminate but oh well. Your post made me very excited to see it in person. So thanks. :goodvibes That in inself is a step in the right direction.

I've never done or probably will never do OKW studios - I SO need my chesterfield. But the one bedrooms. Sighing. Heaven with MY  - I mean THE balcony.

Have a wonderful vacation. So jealous - would love to be there right now.

And I know this could have been done without the renovation but I'm very excited for families of five. It's lovely for them to have more choices.
