Hi Friends,

We’re staying at OKW for the 1st time and I wasn’t sure which section to pick. We have a couple of guests with mobility issues so I did select ground floor (hopefully we will get that) but other then that we have Old Turtle Pond, Miller’s Rd etc to choose from. Any location recommendations? Also I’m regards to the mobility issue should I let the resort know? Or are they pretty good at accommodating ground floor requests?
Thanks!

We love Old Turtle pond. Lots of big old trees so plenty of shade. Nice pool with refreshment stand and usually very quiet. Less than 10 minute walk to HH or just hop a bus.

Yes, I would let DVC Member Services know that you've requested ground floor for medical/mobility reasons. Not sure whether you're the owner or a renter - the DVC owner can make that request via chat or email through the member website or by calling MS.

I’m the owner. Oh ok. That sounds pretty easy to do. Thanks for the info!

If your guests will need a wheelchair or scooter, they may want to be able to board the bus at Peninsular Rd (the first bus stop). Otherwise, they might have to wait for another bus if you have two chairs or scooters and only one slot is available on the bus.

Good tip! That's especially important if you're staying on Miller's Road (since it's the last stop) or one of the elevator buildings. We used to use Penninsular Road all the time.

Turtle Pond! Quiet pool and close to the bus stop. Definitely request ground floor and be specific and do it before you arrive.

It's a long bus ride to pick up milk or bread, so make sure you have your groceries with you when you arrive. There are grills in an area adjacent to the quiet pool. The snack bar operates seasonally. The quiet pool is heaven on earth! Enjoy!
