OKW not up to standard

I thought the housekeepers ran all the dishes through the dishwasher when they were cleaning the unit. Am I wrong that this was a standard prior to a new occupant coming in?

Actually, this is a standard practice, at least at BW. I changed rooms twice last week at BW. The maids began cleaning while I was waiting for bell services, and both times the maids began by unloading all dishes from the cupboard into the diswasher. When I asked, one maid said that they have to do that. They also throw all towels into the dirty laundry, whether they look like they have been used or not, and all beds and hide-a-beds are changed, too. She said that two people clean a two bedroom villa together, and it takes nearly two hours to do it, if it's done correctly. Both sets of maids were quite diligent, at least while I was there.:cloud9:

I have never stayed inside a villa at OKW yet. However, we visited the grounds on the 19th and everything looked great! There was lots of painting going on, and several buildings were receiving upgrades that we could plainly see. We just bought at SSR in August, and we were very observant of upkeep at OKW. after our observations, we feel confident that SSR will be kept up well.

I thought this was standard practice as I have been told that before, I just didn't know if it changed or not. So it seems that if it is not done at every DVC resort, then some of the maids are taking shortcuts. I wouldn't think it would be at one DVC resort and then not at another. One would think that there is a standard of practice at all resorts. I know some people are just more diligent workers, but skipping part of doing your job is just that and shouldn't have to be done by the DVC owner upon arrival. Then again, people will get away with anything they can given the opportunity and not being called on it. I know how to wash down a counter, throw out garbage and change a bed. I just shouldn't have to do it if it is from someone else's family and not from my own. Just my opinion.

A few years ago we stayed at the BCV. The third night there, our youngest who is a constant mover in his sleep, slept with us. During the night I had something against my foot and kicked it down where it wouldn't be bothering me. In the am I had to totally remake the bed because of our son and found a dirty sock at the end of the bed in between the bottom sheet and the top sheet. The sock was not ours I am certainly sure of that. My youngest didn't go to bed with socks on his feet and we didn't have any other sock with this particular character on any of ours. I immediately called the housekeeping manager and complained. I was so grossed out thinking the sheets hadn't been changed in between guests, in the masterbedroom no less, and that we had slept in there for 3 nights already. The sock was dirty, no two ways about it. They tried to say they were sure the bed had been changed and that it probably just got caught up in the sheets. Then why was there grime on the bottom of it? You can tell if socks had been washed and then wouldn't come snow white clean or if it was never washed. This was different, it was dirt and the sock was never washed. I was so upset. I immediately went out to the hallway and got new sheets for the bed, stripped the bed myself and put the former sheets out in the hallway. I was livid mad and felt so dirty. I made the complaint and should have waited for a housekeeper to come in and strip the sheets herself but did it myself while she was apologizing and putting new supplies/towels in the bathroom despite it not being towel/trash day. Maybe she was just being nice, maybe she was the one who didn't clean the unit properly? I don't know. I know everyone is human and accidents happen. I could even see if this was the pullout that hadn't been changed because it hadn't been looked at and should have been, but this was the masterbedroom. There was no excuse for this whatsoever. I also did go down and speak with a manager at the front desk to report the incident. I don't know if anything was ever done and I didn't ask for any comps. Actually the housekeeping manager tried to comp dinner for us at the restaurant of our choice in Epcot and I said no, it wasn't necessary. They had better start being more careful or more people will become disenchanted with the whole "home away from home" concept and sell their "house" like we just did.
