Hi all - (Spicycat for sure)

Looking for info about location of Handicap grand villa at OKW in relationship to hospitality house.

A few weeks back I "told my tale" about our family vacation that we were planning. My Brother came through in a big way and secured the above villa for the whole gang (how cool is that?) I had no takers for the trade I posted (for Beach House in Key West)

We are psyched and ready for our big trip! Any insight would be helpful. Thanks - Steve

There are a couple HA GVs. One I stayed in a few weeks ago was right near HH. Its the same as any other GV except that the counters are lower, there are no cabnets under the sink and the master bath is different. The master bath has a roll in shower and bars near the toilet.

The upstairs rooms are not HA.

THe HA GV near the HH has an elevator. There is another one(that you could definitely get) ....I think it building 48(Corrected, thanks Doc), this one starts on the first floor. Again, the first floor is HA, the second floor is not. The person needing the HA stuff gets the master bedroom.

We stayed in a H/C grand villa at OKW that was in Bldg 63 just diagonal from the Hospitality House. We didn't use the buses so I can't speak to transportation, but it was very convenient to run across the street as needed. The villa overlooked a hole on the golf course, where we could also see ducks, and a rabbit. Great room and view. Have a wonderful time.

Not necessarily related to the HA GV, but the bus access at OKW has gotten to be really first rate! I especially like the access near HH, since it is the last stop before leaving the resort. I had to use a ECV the last trip in August, and may still need one in January. The buses are wonderful with loading and unloading! you load ECVs and wheelchairs with a lift at the back door of the bus, and they even belt the chair in for you. If the person is amulatory, the buses also kneel.

The HC GV's are located in building #63 (accessed by elevator for the first floor- 2nd floor is not HA) and building #48 (first floor has access from the ground). #63 is very close to HH- #48 is across from the South Point bus stop.

Enjoy your stay!!

Wow! - Super feedback. I'm hoping to be near HH as we are mixing needs (my Bro in a chair) with secondary wants (my 2 & 4 year old kids near a great pool).

We stayed at OKW a few years back and love it, however, it is a bit harder for the kids.....does anyone know if there is a playground at OKW? I know the main pool area has one but sometimes there are "secret" play areas at Disney....hmmm. -Steve

We were in one in bldg 63 a few weeks ago, there was another GV next door, is it HA also?

That would give you 2 out of 3 or a 66% chance of getting HA and close to HH.

Each of the quiet pools has a small playground/swing set with it. Your kids are young enough to probably enjoy the quiet pool areas as well. The main pool has the sand castle play area and the dolphin pool.

We stayed in the GV in bldg 63 in July. There was another GV right next door. I would assume it was HA as well since this building has the elevator. We didn't have any issues with the bus service. What we did a lot of the time was to catch the bus at HH (last stop) and get off at Pennisular Road (1st stop). So we didn't have to ride all through the resort. Sometimes the driver would ask if anyone was getting off at HH and would stop there first. It really is a great location.

About the villa itself. While the master bath is accessible (as Rich stated earlier), the bathroom off the living area downstairs has a regular shower and vanity in it. There is also no garbage disposal in the kitchen (found that one out the hard way!) We didn't even notice the villa was HA until we went in the master bath. It was only after that, that I noticed that the counters and everything were lower, no cabinets under the sink, lower bed, etc. There was also not any issue with water on the floor from the shower in this unit either. We stayed in an HA unit at HHI where water went everywhere and we were constantly having towels all over the floor - not a problem with that here.
