Hey,
This will be our first trip to OKW, our home resort. Others coming are hubby, son, daughter, best aunt and mom mom. We will be in a 2 br. I requested close to the hospitality house and main pool. I want all the info I can get on this resort. I know that OKW lovers really talk this place up. I'm sure we're gonna have a great time. Thanks

It truly feels like a vacation home, as opposed to a hotel. Largest rooms with plenty of space to spread out. Balconies that hold more than two people. Beautiful, well grown in landscaping. Great views. Friendliest cm's. Can't wait to go back!

We just bought a resale OKW contract in the Spring and took our first trip to a 2BR in Sept. I can't say enough good about OKW -- we just loved it. We took my dad and stepmom and they were blown away by the place. I loved how quiet and relaxing it was, so spread out and tropical. The 2BR was just awesome, the layout was much nicer IMHO than say the Marriott Grande Vista 2BR villas. The layouts provide a lot of privacy and space. Our balcony overlooked the golf course and we could walk to the HH and main pool, also the main bus stop. I wasn't thrilled w/ the restaurant options at all (don't care for Olivia's, and Good's was not so "good" for me, but at least a fast option). We loved being able to eat b'fast in the room on the fly and have other groceries, including fresh fruit, etc. to stay away from eating out every meal and feeling sick.

The only thing I would say is that I would never be there w/out a car. We had our car the first part but then dropped it off, but I would keep it the whole time. The car allowed us to get to other resorts quickly and off-site restaurants, etc. Some days we even drove to parks.

We loved the boat to DTD and my Dad got great use out of the golf course! The CM's were excellent, and it really did feel "homey". You will LOVE IT! Wish we could go again soon!

We stayed at OKW for the first time this past November, our home resort is SSR. We loved OKW. The rooms are HUGE. There was only 4 of us in a 2 bedroom. The only problem I had was that they only thing I requested was a room near the hospitality house. Well we were in the furthest room from the hospitality house. But the bus service was pretty good. The views and landscaping is wonderful. Hope you have a magical time there. :cool1:

I learned that for me it didn't matter being near the HH. I took the walkway a few times to DTD (anywhere from 12-25 minutes). The few times we ate at Olivia's, we stopped there at our way in or out of the resort on our way to other places/parks.

The only area which I find lacking is Goods, but I just plan around that.

Staying at OKW is much more low key and vacation like than the hustle and bustle of some of the other resorts. Often I would be walking and another guest would walk with me and we would chat. Much more like a neighbourhood than a hotel complex.

Yes, some call it the retirement home, but if I can pretend I'm retired for a week, that's just fine with me!

LOL! Did you know that a DVC Salesperson called OKW people "fanatical"? When I told her that DH just loves OKW, she said "Oh, yes-those OKW people-they can be sort of-" [pause as she searched for the right word]"fanatical". DH wouldn't stay at any other resort at WDW. He calls OKW "my village" and after a limited time in the theme parks, he wants to go "back to my village and sit on the porch" (or sit around the pool, depending on the weather). I've got to agree with the porch-the huge porches at OKW are perfect for a family to sit outside, stretch out at the table, enjoy the wildlife. If you get hungry, order sandwiches at Goods to Go. They pack them with the ingredients separate, so you can put them together when you get back to your villa, they aren't soggy. At the end of the day, go into Gurgling Suitcase, get a Sultry Seahorse, then sit in one of the rocking chairs on the walkway and watch the sun set.
