DECENT men? It's been ages, and I'm really disgusted that I have to go through this garbage again!

So, where do the DECENT men gather?

A lot of people meet online... but I always thought the best way to meet people was through mutual friends and just being social and involved in a lot of activities. Join a gym, take up a hobby, got to church, join different clubs, etc, etc. Anything that gets you out and about.

I can't answer that question, but if you DO find the answer, please let me know. I faithfully go to church--the men my age are married. The next age group would put me in the Anna Nicole category (NOT going there!!!). I'm in graduate school--of course the guys there are children compared to me at the ripe age of 35! I'm active in my community, I work full time--so I have many opportunities to meet people in my line of work. I don't do bars (never have, never will!!!) I'm scared to death of on-line stuff. I think I've about thrown in the towel. I guess if it's supposed to happen, it'll happen. I do enjoy all the "me" time with DS!!!!

The DIS! LOLOLOL! Thanks for making me laugh. I'm not laughing at the guys here. They do seem nice, just not very practical.

Erika...I also agree with meeting them through friends. Funny how all my friends tell me that but they don't know anyone. Hate the "getting out there doing things" part. That's not so easy with an 11 year old. Sheesh! LOL!

Joshsmom...Sounds like you're in the same boat. Only I think there's more to life than having just a child. I love him to bits, but I'm missing waaaaaaaay too much! I once went on a date with a guy I met online at match.com. NEVER AGAIN!

Joe N A N ES...I feel the same. Most my age are married. I understand there are divorced and widowed and even never marrieds out there, but I can't seem to find the decent ones.

Dan...The ones dating meet them anywhere! LOL! Some have luck with online dating, others just happened to bump into them at work or somewhere else. Doesn't seem to be any one thing.

Don't give up because of one bad experience. Just like house hunting, you have to kiss a lot of frogs before you find the prince.

I can assure you I was NOT looking for a man in ICQ. It just happened when I least expected it. And it turned out to be the best thing that could have ever happened to me.

And if Match.com did not work out for you, may I suggest you take a look at eharmony.com. I read an article about them that impressed me a lot.

We are in the same boat, I think, and there's no good men in it!!! I love DS with all my heart, but I do take time away. Most of my friends are married. If they're not married, they are several years younger than me and when we go out, THEY end up with the phone numbers!!! I'm not hideous or anything. So, I'm not completely sure what the problem is. Maybe my standards are too high???!!!! Oh well, lowered 'em once and lived in H E L @ for seven years. Don't think I want to get on that horse again!!!!

Hi Sandy,

Congratulations on moving to VA! Are you in the Tidewater area? Seems like I read a while back that's where you were interested...

There are all sorts of outdoor concerts & events that are coming up during the Spring and Summer. Great way to meet new people.

Joining a gym is a good idea. Or joining a community sport group (like volleyball) or a club.

I think it's important to do something you really enjoy. Passion shows. If you meet someone great. If not, you are still having a good time.

Hang in there. There are lots of decent men available. It's funny, I've heard men say the same thing about women! ("All the decent one's are taken.") Give yourself some time to get to know the area. I think you'll do fine.

PW- Let me know if you find a good spot. I had someone at work ask if I was waiting until dd6 was grown before I started dating. He said that's what his current wife had done. I told him no but inside I thought I really have no dating life. That part of my life doesn't exist anymore. He said he went on a lot of dates through Match without any success. He ended up marrying the the wife of an old friend who had passed away.
I haven't seen any action with eHarmony.
I did put my name on the speed dating email list for Melbourne.

ROFLMAO! I get a kick out of the people that say you find someone when you aren't looking. Well, I've been widowed almost 11.5 years. And for 11 of those years I seriously wasn't interested! No one landed in my lap or bumped into me during that time. LOL!
