Okay, what's the FIRST thing that tells you, "Wow, we are DEFINITELY at WDW!" ??

For me it's the "pre-ride" at the airport which shuttles you from the gate to baggage claim! ;)

I think for me it's usually once we get in our room... the rest is just travelling stuff... actually being in the room and unpacking.. that's when it hits me. NO one has ever said "welcome home" to me on any of my trips. LOL

That's the first "boom we're really here"- it's even a harder "boom" when we walk into MK for the first (okay every!) time. :) We started our last trip with our first day at AK... we really love AK but it wasn't exactly the same "boom" as it was when we finally went to MK on this last trip. We usually do MK first day and last day. LOL So AK first was out of the norm for us...

For me it is walking into the lobby of the resort and breathing that DISNEY AIR. There is no one quality I can put on it but there is something about being hit when you walk into the resort. It's kinda like being home and spelling Mom's cooking when you walk through the door. There's just something special about it. :cloud9:

...how about the smell when you pass "The Land"??? (that chocolat-ey smell! YUM!)

After checking into our resort, the first stop for us is ALWAYS EPCOT! I know I'm there the minute we turn the corner into the parking lot and I get my first glimpse of Spaceship Earth. I've even been known to shed a tear at this sight. ::MinnieMo

I know this is silly, but when we park in "Stage 21" or "Minnie 18" and get on that tram I get all choked up...that's when it hits me that we are really there.

I'll test that out in 2 weeks when we go for the unnumbered anniversary of my 30th birthday!!

1. "The Voice" on the monorail at MCO.

2. The smell anywhere you go. The hotel food court, Main Street, Epcot, etc!

3. Seeing the purple signs and WDW busses!

We went on our first trip in June. We went to BB the first day. I remember we were going down the lazy river, we had just gone underneath one of the bridges, and I turned around and saw Goofy walking across the bridge. That was our first character sighting, and that's when I felt Wow, this is no ordinary park this is Disney! It's a moment I'll never forget. :flower:

seeing the giant WDW sign that goes across the road ( I get all sappy every time which gets a little embarassing)

The minute the plane touches down at MCO. But the ultimate is seeing the castle for the first time of the trip. :maleficen

After touchdown on the airplane and the flight attendant welcomes us to Orlando! :maleficen :Pinkbounc :cheer2: Wahoo!

It's after we have checked in & settled and we are waiting for the first bus on the day of arrival to take us to our first destination. It's not until I'm at that bus stop that I feel really "at home."

Another airport thing, walking down the long corridor at the airport rental center, love it. Get excited to know that i'm here

The first time is when we call and get the ressies for our room!! then, when we leave the airport and head down I-4 and start seeing the signs for different attractions. The pink painted buildings futher down I-4. Then the right hand turn off I-4 onto Disney property and we see the purple Welcome sign with the hands and face of Mickey peeking over it!! Then we are at HOME!!!!!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

When we are driving in and we see that monorail track to the right of the car and then see a monorail drive by. This gives me chills just thinking about it. My DD loves to watch the monorail go by and she is always keeping a mental log on which colors go by.

I can't remember if I have already replied on this thread. But anyways... if so, sorry for the double post.

It hits me when it tells me that we're in WDW is actually as soon as we land at MCO! I always say "Welcome Home!" And it definitely hits me when I walk to the front desk and check in and the CM hits me with the bill!! :rotfl: OUCH!! And it hits me more the morning we leave with the finaly bill!! :rotfl2: Well.. not that funny! It hurts my pocket!

Entering main Street and walking down to thecastle..."THERE IT IS" Need I say more??

All of the advice you get with young children is to save MK for last so they won't be disappointed with the other parks. NO WAY!!! Seeing that castle in the sun, in the fog, in the rain, at night, whatever time of day or week or year, THAT means I'm Definately in Disney World!! :worship:

Traditionally it has been seeing the castle... now with the advent of the Magic Express I would say it definitely hit me to see the CMs waving as you pass security at MCO. I guess Disney got it right because it definitely gets me into the Disney "mode". I even got teary at the welcome video on the ME bus! LOL

Mike :maleficen

I must day that the excitement starts to build as soon as I start to see signs for it but I don;t truly feel that "I'M THERE!!!! feeling until I'm on the boat and see the castle across the water (we usually take the ferry the 1st day.) It has to be Magic Kingdom on the first day... otherwise It's not disney until I see the castle, main street, etc.

Yeah!

Our family's thing that tells us that we're at WDW is when we go past
2 signs. One of course is the big "Welcome to Disney World" sign, and the
other one is a little county sign that says something like "end of county
maintenance".... To our girls, this means thhat we're on Mickey's Highway!!!!
They start getting excited even before we get near a park or our hotel!!!!
