Okay, what's the FIRST thing that tells you, "Wow, we are DEFINITELY at WDW!" ??

When we land at MCO and walk down the jet way into the airport... there is a smell to FL that lets me know I have arrived. Also the Monorail to baggage claim.

For me I think it is walking out from under the train station and just taking in Main Street USA and seeing Cindy's castle at the end.I love disney 'smell' ha ha ha ha. My friends think I'm nuts but Disney does have a smell yah know... ;)

As soon as I pay $6.00 for a bottle of beer I know I'm in Disney!
;)

And Mainstreet.
We usually hit the MK first, for the kids, and that sets us in the Disney mood.

Well, we always drive down... so for us it's seeing those first palm trees along 95, lol! Even my 2yo DS yells out "Palm trees!! Disney!!" when we start seeing them. Come to think of it, now he yells that out whenever he sees a palm tree regardless of where we are, lol!

for me, it is walking down Main Street and seeing those HUGE bunches of silver balloons gently bumping into each other in the breeze and reflecting thousands of beams of sunlight.

Everything else, the signs, the resort, the monorails, the castle, all just make me happy, and while I know we're in Disney, it's the BALLOONS on Main Street that give my heart that extra little lift and the magic begins for me.

Last trip we started at MGM, and it took a whole 6 hours until I truly felt the magic. This trip, we once again are not starting at MK, so I'm going hunting some balloons! :wizard:

Yes, Dh thinks I'm a little crazy.

Driving under the Welcome Arch...and screaming "We're in Disney World!!!"

LOL, for me it's driving under it, then realsing you've got to drive another 10 mins up the road its so huge :rotfl:

Driving under the purple welcome arches is so exciting to me...silly or not the tears start then....but the greatest for me is entering MK and seeing the castle straight ahead...love it, love it, love it. :wizard:

It's the "mini-monorail" at MCO that does it for us.

...next time you are on that monorail, notice the faces of the people who are going in the OTHER direction..... :sad1: !
(BTW - you are neighbors with my DB who lives in Bayville!)

Main Street, USA It is a always my first stop.

Ultimatly, I think it's hearing the atmosphere music (usually at the resort) for the first time that let's me know I'm back.

...you gave me an idea for another thread....thanks :flower: !

For me, the first sign is all the hotels on 192 but the one that gives me the butterflies is the welcome arch.

The signs and the THREE SCREAMING CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT!!!!!! :goodvibes :bounce: :jumping1: We then KNOW that we are there!!! :cloud9:

Pretty much when the plane touches down on that sacred Orlando Airport runway. The moment we exit the plane, I feel great!!! The palm trees, the pending vacation...........it's bliss!! :cool1:

I guess it happens in stages for me...

1. Disney billboards and signs along the road. :bitelip:
2. Welcome home and getting to the BWV lobby. :wave2: :cool1:
3. THE MUSIC - whether it's MK, AK, Epcot, or MGM. It's all about what I hear!! :goodvibes :rolleyes1 :music:

i am familar with that smell too skylarr29...i bet you didnt know that disney pumps in certain scents on main street, some think its an effort to get you to buy food, others think it was walt disney's idea to immerse you in magic. but that smell is great, you are not crazy!

People think I'm insane, but I swear even the Disney Stores have a certain smell that reminds me of WDW. Can't put my finger on it but it does put a smile on my face. Am I crazy? :confused3
