Okay, parents, tell me what I should bring for "first aid/doctoring" stuff.

We are going to WDW in May with a party of 10. In that party will be 3 children -- 2 of them mine: DS (6), DD (2), and my nephew (6 months).

What should I pack as far as first aid / doctoring things go? I always carry Children's motrin and bandaids in my toiletry bag -- and usually a thermometer. (I'm just not one of those moms (like my own) that can tell you what their child's temperature is just by touching their forehead! ) What else might I possibly need that I should have along? DD is still in diapers (Pull-Ups) -- so I will still have to bring my diaper bag into the park.

I usually bring a small bottle of hand-sanitizer. That way, if you wanna snack in a line or something, you can just wip it out and be germ free so you can really enjoy your snack, instead of cringing at the thought of how many other dirty hands have touched that handrail that you have just run your hand across.

moleskin - in case of blisters or hot spots,
a zip lock baggie that can be filled with ice in case of bumps or overheating, something like Pepto for upset stomaches,

little individual foil packs of neosporin (maybe it's another brand, but that type of antibiotic cream) that come packed with mini q-tips...

a small instant cold pack (dollar trees in Southwestern ohio have em in a $1 first aid kit)...less messy than ice.

Adult motrin (or similar)...don't wanna forget you!

pack of antibacterial wipes (gel is great but won't get actual dirt off...target has wipes for a dollar in the travel size...dollar tree has em in the tube type bigger pack for a dollar)

In addition to some of the items mentioned above, I highly recommend a small first aid kit that can be carried in your backpack or fanny pack. One that includes antibiotic wipes & cream, gauze pads & tape, topical pain reliever, etc..

Last Fall, two older/larger kids came running around a corner at DAK and totally blindsided my DS--he was flung several feet & hit the roughly paved surface pretty hard, resulting in some badly scraped knees and hands. That first aid kit was a Godsend that day. Band-aids alone wouldn't have helped much, but with the kit we were able to clean him up and used the gauze pads over his knees. And the topical pain killer helped to numb the sting fairly quickly. Could have been a lot worse if we hadn't had that kit with us.

I agree with Matt'sMom, and it's super easy if you've already got a diaper bag. Just drop some stuff in a ziploc - we always take a quart size ziploc full of first aid stuff in our backpack.

Another ziploc tip - take a couple of empty quart and/or gallon size into the park with you to put leftovers in. Our kiddos never finish a meal (usually chicken strips), so we drop 'em in a ziploc and an hour later when they're hungry again - voila chicken strips

49 days, 6 hours, and 2 minutes til we're back at Fort Wilderness and Star Wars Weekend.

I'm a terrible overpacker, but I generally raid the medicine cabinet before we leave. I bring adults Advil, childrens Motrin, some cold medicine for both adults and children (my husband got sick on our last trip), band-aids and neosporin, some immodium or pepto bismol, benadryl, and aloe for sun burns. Into the parks, though, I generally only bring the advil, benadryl (in a small pill box) and band aids and neosporin. I realize you can probably get all these things once there, but beyond paying lots more for them, when you don't feel well on vacation the last thing you want to do is hunt down medicines to feel better! Having them on hand means fast relief and more fun!!!

Yup, there is the first aide station, but if you are on the other side of a park and want to quickly calm a boo-boo (mine is a drama queen) it works wonders!

Since you mentioned your DD is still in diapers, you might want to pack some sort of cream for diaper rash. I know my kids always got a heat/diaper rash from sitting in the stroller in the hot Florida heat.

antiperspirant spray (for everyone's feet to prevent blisters - worked like a charm for us)
I brought dramamine (as I can literally get sick on a merry go - round)
benadryl in case of bug bites, allergic rash
I brought liquid bandage spray so swimming would not be an issue with boo-boos

There is now pedialyte in the little powder packets - premeasured, you just add it to a water bottle. Much easier than having to pack a bottle of the stuff or hunt some down.

Also, don't forget the MEDICINE DROPPER for the kids medicine - I've been guilty of doing this, but not at Disney.

You may want to bring a small tube of Hydrocortisone Cream 1%. Everytime we go down to WDW my son gets a little heat rash. The first time it freaked me out and I called the dr. He suggested always bringing that with us especially in a climate change like that.

P.S. I just went back to see where you were from and if it would be a big difference. I guess it will. I lived in Allegan, MI for a year and my DH and Ihad our first date in Holland. Just wanted to share a fun memory

but to the parks i just take , bandaids , anti bac handy wipes, neosporin, motrin

I'm embarrased to say it was just a movie and Perkins for dinner. Not exactly the most romantic but it was still fun!

In addition to the many things previously listed, I pack the J&J foam wound cleanser. Came in very handy twice on our past trip. DD fell on the Boardwalk and split her knee open to the point I was afraid we were headed to the ER. Thankfully, the store on property had 2x2 gauze and tape. Even my super large band-aid wasn't big enough for this.

Also used it at MK when someone else's little guy wiped out on Tom Sawyer's Island. Cleaned him up and gave them a band-aid.

They also sell wipes that you can buy. It has lidocaine in it so it helps take the pain away by numbing the area.

I also have a small bottle of Children's Motrin that I take into the parks. It was a sample from the MD and I use the bottle now to travel. Keep a small sticker on it with the exp date for the "refill" I put in the bottle.

Love the tips about... atipersprirant spray and had to laugh about dramamine. I plan on using it when I go through the revolving door at our airport.
