Okay, now I am confused - Borrowing Points

In the member guide book, it states that if I cancel a reservation 31+ days out, the points will be returned to the approriate use year. Does that mean that borrowed points get returned to the year that they were borrowed from, or do they actually get put into the current year?

Here is the dilemma. I have a reservation for October that will use up all my banked (June use year) 2002 and almost all of my 3003 points. There is a chance that we may want to stay a few extra days, but that would require digging into 2004 points. Should I hold off on reserving the extra nights, and hope for the best? Any suggestions would be appreciated. In case it makes a difference, not sure if we plan on a trip home in 2004

See I haven't been hope yet, and I am already short on points:rolleyes:

Points once borrowed stay borrowed. If you cancel, those points borrowed from June 2004 will remain in the June 2003 to May 2004 use year and must be used by May 2004.

Once points are banked or borrowed they can't be put back into their original Use Year. Cancelling a reservation doesn't change the Use Year.

In the situation you mention, you would have some options if you had to cancel. If you cancelled 31+ days out, you would have to use all the banked points and all the borrowed points by May 31, 2004. However, since your trip is taking place within your 100% banking deadline, you could take all the June 2003 points and bank them into your 2004 Use Year giving you another opportunity to use them if they weren't needed before June 2004.

If you're looking at weekends, maybe you would like to try another WDW resort using cash (discounts?). That could save you money and points in the long run. You could also rent points from another member if you wanted or simply borrow the points as you mentioned. Good luck.
