Okay...I've Called the Late Night DISers, Now I'm Calling the Single DISers (Part 2)

Well, sadly, the picture with MDP in it didn't turn out (my fault, i need practice at taking pictures at night), but I did get a few good IllumiNations shots.

Thanks guys:D He brought her back last night. I didn't bring it up about the gf but he did. He actually apologized. He could tell at the time that I was upset (even though I was trying to hide it).

Sat. night I just couldn't sit home alone after all that so I went to a friend's house for a few hours. Sun. I was up at 7am! I was hoping I would sleep in. I relaxed all morning. Wasn't really sure what to do with all this free time I suddenly had. I am used to dd being around so much that when I suddenly don't have her it's strange. I did cleaning and chores around the house. Then I ran some errands and did some retail therapy;)

Eric- great photos! Thanks!

Thanks for the pictures, Eric...they're great! :)

Legs...Retail therapy? LOLOL! I love it! :) I agree...when kids are gone it's strangely quiet. I don't like it. So used to having one here! Glad your ex apologized. I bet it's nice to have dd back!!!! :) :sunny:

Glad people liked the pictures ... finished up training today, now I'm a part of the regular rotation ... and apparently, I can pickup shifts at other parks as a park greeter, if I want to.

Congrats, Eric! :Pinkbounc

We have quite a few FL people on here now...Legs, Suzanne, Karen, Eric, and Barry. Am I missing anyone? Prayers and pixie dust for all of you with Frances!

I want to cry here  I am really getting freaked out about this hurricane! The predictions dropped further south to the Jupiter area which is my county! I managed to get plywood yesterday but late last night realized I should have bought one more. So there is one window that will have nothing on it! And I have no one to help me put the boards on my windows. I asked the guy I work with.....I am at the bottom of his list after his house, his brother's house etc. Yesterday I asked my XH who lives in the Jupiter area, who yesterday said he wasn't worried:rolleyes: ,and he said if I bought the wood he would help me put it up. Today he is worried, with good reason, and I am also at the bottom of his list. ACK!!! This is so hard to do by yourself!
I don't want to ride this out by myself but I don't have anywhere else to go. My family is in South Brevard County where they were predicting the storm was going yesterday. I don't think that's a good place to go! I don't know what to do!

This is a major time when being a single female STINKS!! Any neighbors around who might be able to help? Hop a flight and visit me! Then you can get back before it gets this far up and miss it entirely. I think I'd even be hopping a train if it were me. Do you know where your nearest shelter is?

Thanks PW!
I was at Home Depot for 5 hours:earseek: today to get 2 pieces of plywood!!! Luckily a gf of mine picked my dd up from the Home Depot line and took her to her house. I heard my next door neighbor sawing so I went to talk to him and he said he would help. I got back from Home Depot and he already had 2 of my windows covered. God bless him! Then another neighbor came over to help him with my windows.

When I got home from Home Depot I found out I am under a warning now. I am soooooo exhausted.

Oh Legs, how scary! As Sandy said, please do whatever it takes to keep yourself safe. I am so glad you have some nice neighbors. Please check in with us when you can so we'll know you are safe. (((HUGS)))

Good wishes, legs, my best and prayers.

And Eric, nice pictures, hope to meet you in a few months.

Hang tight, legs.

Any time, Legs! Geez! Hurricanes are so frightening. I see this morning it's been down graded to a category 3. I hope it keeps dropping!!!

Glad you had help with DD, and glad your neighbors came through!! Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!

Under a warning? Did you need to evacuate? I see they upped it to 2.5 million people. :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: Also saw the paper with cars backed up on the highway. Think those trains will be moving faster than the cars! What a time to call for evacuations. Don't see the sense of sitting in a car and not being able to move. In the picture I could also see traffic headed south. I had to wonder why they haven't yet changed those lanes to North and out!

Anyone heard from Suzanne lately?

Thanks Dan and TB:D

I drove last night to get dd from my friend's house and it was eery. There are very tall street lights along a major road. They had lowered all the light sections down to the ground. Didn't realize they could do that. Billboards are removed from the frame or big holes are cut in them. Lots of road construction normally going on here. All the constuction barrels and barricades are gone. Majority of stores have boarded up. Less people on the roads. Very different from how it usually is on a Thurs. evening. Most all of homes in my development are boarded up. Road signs in the front of my development that are rectangular and have two posts have been cut to the ground. I also noticed in my friend's area that they had spray painted, on the roads at traffic light intersections, the name of the crossroad. That reminds me of Hurricane Andrew where people were so disoriented as to where they were because there was so much destruction and road signs where gone.

I am now all boarded up. Strange that it is pitch black in the house and bright daylight outside. I want to get all my photos in plastic bags or containers. The same with electrical stuff. And I need to prepare my safe room which is a windowless bathroom in the center of the house. I want to have supplies in there. If it gets too bad, I will go in there with dd and ride it out. Maybe even get in the bathtub and pull her twin mattress over us.

Those 2 pieces of wood I waited 5 hrs to get at Home Depot??? Didn't need them because my neighbor used some of his extra wood to start on my windows while I was at Home Depot. There were left over pieces from my original 6 pieces that he took home.
It was killing me that I stood at Home Depot for 5 hrs. for nothing!!!!!!!!
I was going to put the wood on freecycle.org figuring someone out there in my county still needed wood.
Well, the wood was in my garage and I had the garage door open which I never do. There was a knock at my front door. It was 3 sisters of a neighbor down the street. The sisters had evacuated from a mobile home park in the north end of the county near the water. The neighbor needed wood for his slider (a slider takes 2 panels of plywood which is exactly what I had!!). They were at a different Home Depot than I was yesterday and that Home Depot ran out of wood.
The sisters where walking and saw the wood in my garage since the door was open. So they bought the wood for what I paid for it and I gave them my left over concrete anchors.
I was so happy that what I went through yesterday at Home Depot wasn't for nothing. I was so happy it helped someone. You just never know why something happens at the time. You think it was a waste of time. But it wasn't! :D

That was great that you were able to help out the sisters, Legs! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Sounds like you really have your house ready. I'm not sure what the latest on the hurricane is since I don't have a working TV...still no cable. Maybe I'll stop somewhere that has one on just to see what's up. Hope it's weakening more!!!!!

That's interesting about the lights being lowered to the ground. I didn't know they could do that either. Sounds like you have the right room for your safe room.

Prayers still on the way! Wish it would get down to a cat. 1 or 2. Keep us posted as long as you can. But only after you're ALL set!!

Legs crossing my fingers and keeping you in my prayers. Hopefully this hurricane will keep weaking.

Well, I'm on the west coast of FL and I'm beginning to feel to effects from Frances. It's starting to rain on and off. It'll get worse as the day progresses.

Good luck, Barry! There's probably not a decent place to be in FL with the size of this one.

(((Hugs))) and good thoughts for all of our Florida friends. Hopefully she will downgrade even more.

Looks like she might be strengthening. Getting rain and wind on and off. Just filled up the tub with water. She just doesn't want to move.
