I HAVE A DATE!! :
I was IMing with a guy from a single parents' site tonight. He lives in town. We're going out for dinner on Thursday night! He was in the Army 20 years, retired from them, and is now working for them as a civilian. We'll see how this goes!!

I got this in an email and enjoyed it. Thought I'd share it with my girlfriends

APPLES:

Women are like apples on trees, the best ones are at the top of the tree. Most men don't want to reach for the good ones because they are afraid of falling and getting hurt. Instead, they just get the rotten apples from the ground that aren't as good, but easy......

So the apples at the top think something is wrong with them, when in reality, they're amazing. They just have to wait for the right man to come along - the one who's brave enough to climb all the way to the top of the tree.

I think there is definitely some truth in this. I also think that the more a man likes you, the more he worries about hurting you. And since he is man, this can actually lead to resistance in the relationship.

Thanks, everyone! Dating is just a weird thing to be doing at this point in life. What else do I know about him? Hmmm...I think the IM was going for a couple hours. LOL! It seemed like it any way. Let's see...he's an instructor...something to do with helicopters. He would rather be teaching middle school! But he would have to go back and get his degree for that. He dropped out somewhere along the line. He has a 14 year old daughter. Seems very protective of her. Not sure how long he's been divorced. He mentioned that he read in my profile that I'm widowed. So I had to give him the basic short version of what happened. Then he told me he had a heart attack at 38...same age as my husband! That's weird!! Thankfully, he's doing fine. His problem was corrected with a stent. We pretty much like similar music, want to see the same concert! LOL! (Toby Keith will be here in September, but dates aren't released yet.) That's about it so far. Oh! A younger man! I think he's three years younger than me.

Top Gun is on right now. One of my favorites. I've got a thing for pilots. Another "military" movie I love is An Officer and a Gentleman. I do wish I was Kelly McGillis and Debra Winger in these movies.

I liked them when I saw them. Haven't seen either in quite a while. Speaking of movies...I was in Walmart the other day and saw a DVD of The Firm for less than $9! Rats! I wanted to buy it, but I was lecturing DS on NOT buying him an $18 DVD and a $14 DVD he wanted. Had to put mine back since I wasn't buying his.

I'd like to join that military gym! Fat chance I guess.

I was here IMing again with this guy I'm meeting for dinner tomorrow. We were discussing something he seemed to have some pretty strong feelings on.
