Okay...I've Called the Late Night DISers, Now I'm Calling the Single DISers (Part 2)

Hey, Legs! :wave2: How are plans for the job change and move going?

I really don't know how to pack up an entire house. Nothing is packed yet and I move the week of the 27th. Plus I have to have to wrap all the Xmas gifts. And my X-MIL died Friday. We are telling dd today.
Handyman is coming the 27th to do minor fix up stuff. They are also replacing the gable wood trim, but not until Jan. 3, when I will be starting my new job. Then I need to have the whole house painted after the wood trim is replaced. And I want to replace the outdoor lights after it is painted. Unfortunately, I will be driving down here after I move to finish up the house.

I'm so sorry to hear about your x-m-i-l. :(

The move is on for the week of the 27th! A date!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc You will certainly be busy. Personally, I didn't pack my house. I had the moving company do it. It was just an overwhelming task for me to do that. I'd rather pay the money, have them do it in a fraction of the time it would have taken me, if anything breaks it's because of their packing, and I would have put in a claim with them. But I did all the unpacking on this end. Not good to have them do that.

Are you taking any time off from working between jobs?

My brother and BIL will be moving me so I have to pack it all up myself. I still don't have a storage facility once it gets up there.

My last day of work was the 17th and I start up there Jan 3. Tomorrow and Thurs. I need to drive up there to do pre-employment stuff. Then I drive up there again on Xmas. Then back down here again to pack it all up.

Oh, good! Brother and BIL moving it will save you money!! Yes, you'll be packing then.

Glad you have time off between jobs. You'll be busy! Storage places...I was here going through the phone book looking for storage when we arrived! I was at the moving company with the truck and calling. :earseek: I did find one on such short notice...luckily. And luckily I used it short term and found a home quickly...in comparison to how it could have been. :earseek: Good luck with it! I hope you find the size you need and at a good price. :)

But I hear there is a shortage of storage space due to the hurricanes.

Where is everyone? We know what CM is doing ;)
TB- Did you work things out with DBF?
FLM- Hope everything is ok.

Xmas is coming so fast! I did get all Santa gifts wrapped while dd was gone today.

Wow! That's something! I'll keep my fingers crossed that when you're ready for space, something's available for you!

I'm sure Vicki is busy...she's making me miss it even more! :earseek: ;)
TB...You're way too quiet! Things okay?
Suzanne...Surviving the coldness?
We have.........................SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Legs...Congrats on getting the wrapping done. I haven't even started wrapping. It's all still hidden away. I'll have to do it while DS is out tomorrow. Thanks for the reminder!

Wow, snow! Enjoy!

I still have to wrap my gifts to dd and everyone else.

I spoke to my sis. Her FIL just had the hardest time finding storage. He finally did, but not near where he lives. I don't think it has a/c and it was expensive. I have to have a/c because of the large amt of photos that I have.

We told dd about her grandmother and read her Maria Shriver's book "What's Heaven". She did fine.

Long day today. 4 hrs. of driving and 3-4 hrs up there.

I'lm doing fine everyone and surviving the cold weather. Hey it could be colder. I go for my test on Wed. Waiting for a call back to see what time. I went with a different cardiologist. THe other office was just giving me the run around all the time. This one seems to have their act together.

Hope everyone has a great holiday!

Good luck with the test, Suzanne. Please let us know how it goes.

Glad you're surviving the cold weather also, and have a great holiday.

Now, my pups are the ones who appreciate the snow! Holy cow! They want to go outside all the time! LOL! I didn't take Richard to his day care center until almost 11. Had to brush off the van first...how I miss my two-car garage now!! Wouldn't you know...one of the back doors was frozen. Neither one of us could open it. But by the time I dropped him off, got gas, and stopped for coffee, it was unfrozen. This winter will be fun!! :teeth: Just as long as I don't have to shovel the snow!

I'm ok, thanks for asking y'all! Its just been a hard two weeks. :guilty: My DBF finally decided that he is not ready to truly commit to me. It hurt like hell, but I am finally feeling better. The funny thing is - well, I guess it really is consistent - is that he seems just as ambivalent about the breakup as he was about deciding whether we could have a future together. He still calls regularly. I'm seeing him tonight for the first time - to give him the print I bought him. I can tell he is so excited to see me and plans on taking me out to a nice restaurant. It gets even funnier. When I told my ex-husband about it - he told me I deserve so much better. I think he must have forgot that he left me too. He is back to calling me darling and keeps asking me to come visit him. I'm beginning to think my brother is right - for men it is all about the chase.

For the bright news, I got an offer on my house with a closing date of January 13th!! :Pinkbounc We are still in negotiations but I'm hoping that everything will work out.

FM, I will keep you in my thoughts...
Legs, you are one busy woman right now! Pixie dust coming your way that everything will fall into place.
Sandy, is it January yet? :grouphug:

I'm back safely. The day went well. Now I hope I passed all my screening tests.
We stopped at the store on the way home and got some hot chocolate and big marshmallows. It's so cold here! We sang along to the Hot Chocolate song from the Polar Express soundtrack.

Hugs TB. Men....don't try to figure them out. Congrats on the house!

Good luck with the test FLM.

Do you think I should go to XMIL's funeral service? I had thought about going. I'll get to see XH's gf with him for the first time. ICK.

TB...  I'm sorry it didn't work (for now) with dbf. But you never know! I've found the same thing...disconnect from them a bit and they're interested again. I hope all works out nicely with your house...Congratulations! :Pinkbounc

Legs...Glad your trip up and back was good. Good luck on your screening tests!! Do you WANT to go to DMIL's funeral?

I think it will feel strange if I go to the funeral. Where would I sit? I'm not part of the family anymore. I would feel like an outsider.
I still had contact with MIL. I saw her at her doctor appts. And occas. spoke to her on the phone. I was with her son for 19 yrs.and part of the family for 14 yrs. I cried when I found out she died. Would it be appropriate for me to attend? Maybe I should ask XH.

In my book it would be since you seem to have been close with her. If you're uncomfortable about something "during hours," maybe you can call the funeral home and ask if it would be okay to stop by during off hours just to spend a little time. I know the two homes I dealt with for DH allowed that.

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. I think you should do whatever feels most right to you. You are the mother of her grandchild - I can't imagine anyone thinking that it would be inappropriate for you to attend. You could always sit in the back and leave immediately following the service.

Thanks for the hugs y'all. Any advice on how to mend a broken heart? I have read Mars and Venus starting over. Dr. Gray says that you do it by remembering the love. I just keep telling myself that he just wasn't the right one for me. I know he loved me, but not as deeply as I deserve to be loved.

He loved the teton print btw!! This is what he got me: http://disney.store.go.com/DSSectionPage.process?Merchant_Id=2&Section_Id=14416&Product_Id=114325
My ex-m-i-l told me that "my prince will come". I just never dreamed it would be Mickey! :)

LOL! That is too cute, TB! Yes, looks like Mickey is your prince right now.

No, don't know ways to mend broken hearts. Sorry! If someone knows a sure fire way, I'm ready to listen!!

I have a job interview tomorrow morning. It should go well since I don't want this job. Why don't agencies understand when I tell them...I DO NOT WANT TO WORK ANYWHERE IN THE MEDICAL FIELD!!!!!!?

Sandy, why are you so against working in the medical field again?

It looks like the house offer may fall through. A house directly across the street went up for sale and she likes some things more about that house - including that it has a much shorter driveway. The asking price on that house is much less too - but my house is nicer! It seems like my entire life right now is about poor timing. I have decided that I need to spend my energy at this point in my life studying for my licensing exam and getting into shape (I am down to 110 - now just need to get really toned!).

Here is hoping that all of us have a better 2005! I think we all deserve it!! :)

I'm burned out on it. Tired of seeing the corporation making millions while the employees get a lousy 2.5% or lower increase. Tired of corporate lying to employees, etc. And it's not just hospitals and the medical field. It was one of my pushes when I was first interested in teaching. Oh, well.

Today's interview was with a company that makes lead aprons for radiologists, etc. What a waste of time! First, one person asked me if I wanted to work part time. No, full time. He said it was to start as part time and work into full. It's temporary while the big cheese's secretary is overseas a couple months. After she comes back, he's hoping this person works out and rolls over into being the office manager. This dude wants dictation. Gee...I don't do that. LOL! A dictaphone, yes. Someone in person or over the phone, no. LOL! These are things the agency that sent me should have known about before deciding who to send!! When I first walked in the office, I could swear it smelled like stale smoke. ***cough, cough, cough*** Does Virginia NOT have non-smoking offices? But I didn't see anyone smoking. Then he told me about how unorganized the entire place is and how he needs someone to organize it all. I'm wondering...why doesn't his secretary at least straighten his stuff out?????????????? You should have seen the guy's office! :scared1: :faint: No, I don't want a job straightening out a company's 26 year mess!!! You couldn't pay me enough!!! That was another thing...very weird that neither the agency nor the company itself didn't even talk money. I asked the person at the agency about that when I talked to her afterwards. Didn't care for her reasoning on that either. Actually, I knew the second that I saw the office "building" as I was driving up that it wasn't a place for me. Can we say a trailer with extremely limited parking? :( No, not the type of place or job I want. Ugh!

On the other hand, I have a couple resumes out there for much better places. Think I'll call them next week to be sure they have received them.

TB, I'll be crossing my fingers your offer on the house sticks! Maybe the person will decide they really like yours better!!! :teeth: :)

I'm with you...I hope 2005 is better!
