Okay...I've Called the Late Night DISers, Now I'm Calling the Single DISers (Part 2)

Sounds good, Vicki. Just check on that board from time to time to see if they've changed it or put an additional one there in a different size. I know Dan Murphy did mine for me over there. I see he's off to WDW!! Wooo hooo! Lucky guy! :teeth: But I'm sure other techies will be around.

No benefits...this is the second job I've seen like this. The other was a city job with the town over from where I am. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! Exactly...only those married to spouses with benefits need apply. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! Can't I claim discrimination? I'd like to do that with the military also!!  Yeah, just try being a civilian getting a job with them!

Account manager? Do I need to have a phone glued to my ear? If so, it's not for me. LOL! I recently sent an application to an investment company for an Admin Asst job in their Marketing dept. I did exactly that job for a real estate developer in the 90s. Heard no mention of that job, but they contacted me to do transactions on the phone all day. NO THANKS!! You have to wonder if the jobs they actually advertise are real!

Glad your daughter is better, and glad your DBF is a step closer!!!!!! :teeth:

Well......the doctor called today.........HE OFFERED ME THE JOB!!!!! :jumping1: :jumping1:
I was so excited! Then when I ran errands at lunch I sat in the car and cried:confused: I think because I've wanted to leave this area for so long. I just haven't been happy here. When I was driving back from Melbourne this weekend I thought to myself that Melbourne felt like home, not where I am now.
The doc said he had the final word on the hire not the nurse manager. He told me her job would be changing- doing contract negotiations, regulatory, etc. which is a part of her current job BUT she would no longer be the manager. The 3 coordinators (one of which would be me :D ) would no longer report to her. They would report to the doc. And they would look for a new manager. Could be one of the 3 coordinators or someone external.
The doc is calling again tomorrow evening to see if I will accept the job. I'm pretty certain I will accept. He is calling HR tomorrow (the person wasn't there today). I guess HR would give me the salary offer. I need to think of any questions I might have to ask him tomorrow. I also need to figure when I could start. How do you tell your current job you are leaving?? By written letter to your boss and/or give to HR?
When I got home tonight my roofing materials were in my yard. Now they can start my roof!
I really don't know how in the world I am going to do all this stuff. Getting the house in selling condition is going to be a lot of work. Inside and out. Especially trying to do it while still working FT. Selling, moving, finding a new place to live (rent first or buy), what school, before and aftercare. ACK!
Somehow it will all come together.

Congratulations, Legs!!!! :jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1:

That's fantastic!! Sounds like things will be moving along...job, roof, house. Don't worry! It all comes together some how. Don't worry about the crying. I'm sure it's been stressful, and that's a good release. I've always given notice to my immediate supervisor. They take it from there. Yes, I give my boss a letter, but I've always sat down with them at the same time, told them verbally I was leaving, and handed them the letter. Seems to go over well.

Rent first or buy...LOL! Now you sound like me. I remember when I had a signed contract with the buyer in FL. One day I was doing the dishes and looking out my kitchen window. I thought...I've sold my house and I'm not even sure where I'm going never mind living! :earseek: It was frightening at the time. But I reminded myself that everything would work out one way or another. I knew the town and the school I wanted, so that was my starting point. It's all going to be a fun adventure for you, Legs!!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Have fun with it all!! :teeth:

Way to go, Legs! How exciting! I know it all seems overwhelming right now with all you have to do but as you said it will all come together. :Pinkbounc :cheer2: :Pinkbounc

Tomorrow can't get here soon enough! He is in the air as I type on his way to London...getting closer!

Take care everyone! Don't know how often I'll have time to check in with work and spending time with DBF and DD.

:bounce: :bounce: :jumping1: :bounce: :bounce:

Congratulations Legs that is awesome news!!! I would let your immediate supervisor know in person that you are quitting and ask him/her how you need to do it formally.

Hang in there Sandy, you will find one that is right for you!

Today's the day, right Vicki?! :jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1: :thewave: :thewave: Have a GREAT time!!

I finally got an update on Harley. It sounds like they are doing really well together. This is what his email said:

"H is awesome, I love that kid so much. Everyday when I get home she puts her feet on my chest and kisses me for a couple of minutes. Every morning she wants to walk more than to eat. She sleeps next to me each night".

That is the best news I have heard in a long time, well second to Leg's job offer and third to CM's DBF coming home. :earboy2:

:Pinkbounc :flower1: :Pinkbounc

Hmmm....maybe I should get a dog :D Glad Harley is doing well.

Doc hasn't called yet for my answer. I feel so anxious. Like I'm at the top of a roller coaster, about to take the big drop. Strange that HR is not calling.

How do you bring it up to your boss that you are leaving? It seems like you're dropping a bomb.

I think dogs are the best creatures that walk on this planet. I can't imagine life without them. :D

Not that I know of.

That will definitely make it more difficult. Any idea how far off the move will be? If it will be a little while, you may want to first start by telling your boss that you are looking for a positon so you can be closer to your family.

I also can tell you what not to do. Last year one of our psychologists notified our boss that she was quitting in two weeks. Now, technically this person is our "boss" but in reality all of our concerns are addressed by the senior psychologist. The boss didn't forward the letter to the senior psychologist and the psychologist leaving never informed her either. Guess who did? Me. Totally not on purpose. I had no idea the senior psych didn't know. I just happened to mention our need to discuss coverage since this person was leaving in a few days. :earseek: She was not a happy camper.

Best of luck Legs!

I think I am going to tell the new place I could start Tues. Jan 4. On Monday Jan. 3 the kids go back to school and I'd like to be off to take dd to her new school. I planned on giving 2 weeks notice by the end of this week. Then I will be off for 2 weeks to get the house ready to sell and move. Plus the holidays are during that time. I wouldn't imagine they'd want me to start during the holidays. Plus I would have to find somewhere to put dd since the kids are off during that time.
So I could tell my boss tomorrow that I am looking and then give her my 2 wks notice on Friday!

I was joking there. Not sure how I am going to bring it up.

My mom mentioned that her friend may offer me a room in their house until I find a place up there! Only problem is that it's not in the area I want to buy a house in. So dd may have to switch schools again after a month or so.

Ah -tomorrow is already Thursday? :earboy2: Its been a hard week for me...
You'll be able to think of something.

:scratchin I wonder if they want coverage during the holidays! Maybe when he calls he'll ask you how much notice you need to give your current job.

I wouldn't give your current employer any clue you're looking for something else. They can make things tough when they know that, if they keep you around.

I'm working tomorrow. Yea!! :teeth: I'll be working for the agency I've been working with so far. This time in their own office and their own work! :) (Not for the hospital they had me working for.) Wish they would hire me!!!!

PW- One day you will find the right job:D It took me a little over a year.

They have asked how much notice I need to give my current employer and I told them 2 weeks. That's standard. They may need more time but not sure I can give it.

I don't want to give them any clue I'm looking. Because sometimes it takes a while to find a job. Or what if I had decided to stay?

I'm worried because the doc never called last night. And why hasn't HR called? I wonder if there is a power struggle between the doc and the nurse manager about who to hire. I would like to think that he is arguing with HR about paying me a higher salary, ha ha.

Pin Wizard's advice is probably better than mine - my work situation is so unique since there are so few of us and I am friends with the people I work with. Did they say how (or when) you would be receiving your official salary offer? I am curious - how do you find a job without using your current employer as a reference?
