what is going to be the best rate I can get. I don't have AAA, but will join if it's worth it. Is this the only way I can save money? We really want the dining plan so that means we have to be on a package so I cant save on tickets. What kind of savings are we taking with AAA. We are going for 2 weeks in the beginning of August, so at least its value season rates. Is there any other discounts that I am missing??

AAA would save you 20%, so for a moderate it would go from $145/night to $116/night. We are going Aug 10-18 so I am hoping for a better discount too.

So far, AAA is the only discount we've received for our trip in the beginning of August also. Paid $46 to join (it was a special at the time $10 off in our area) and saved $245 on our trip. You'll save 20% off value season rates at a Value resort with AAA--Value season starts Aug 5th.

NHBelle,
We booked through AAA and are not members. This is our 5th time using them. I ask them each time if we need to be members and they always tell us no. We saved just under $400 for 9 nights at the Pop in August. Good luck!

I have to tell you, if you sit down and figure out how much you will spend on the cost of the dining plan (you don't say how many kids you have) and what you will save on your room rate, you just may make out pretty good with the AAA discount on the rooms.

Last year we stayed at the Beach Club in September with a AAA discount. When free dining came out, I changed and went with it, but it wasn't THAT much of a savings altogether over the AAA rate. A LOT depends on what resort you are staying at and how many people you are going with. Best deal with free dining is definitely at the value, but the mods and deluxes have great AAA discoutns, too. Where are you staying?

You can go to www.aaa.com, click on Travel, then Hotels, punch in Orlando, your dates, then down the bottom click on "Disneyworld Hotels", and it will give you all the AAA rates for the hotels that are available. (You can browse and get rates, but must be a member to book) You can then add the cost of your tickets (from disneyworld.com), the dining plan, and there you go. If you figure the cost of a regular package out on disneyworld.com, the difference is your savings. And if you are going for two weeks, that will be pretty significant. Or, just call a AAA travel agent and she can quote it for you.

Remember, you get so many other discounts/advantages for your $50 membership, not just room rates. Check it out!!!

To answer your question, it is DEFINITELY worth it to join, if that is the only discount you are able to find.

Good luck!

NHBelle,
We also got a room discount with AAA. We got 15% at the Poly for our stay 8/20-8/26. I booked a package with tickets and dining, but the discount only applied to the room portion. In my area you do have to be a member, but each AAA region is slightly different.
Good luck!
