Okay I am confused?

Hi Sue - Induction is the first phase of Atkins, recommended for two weeks though some people stay on it longer. The Advantage bars and the Morning Start bars are okay on induction. The Endulge candy bars are not okay on induction. I learned the hard way when I "endulged" and gained three pounds but it seems to be going away now (even though I had them after my 2 weeks on Induction). In any case, some people have a hard time losing when incorporating the Advantage and Morning Start bars so it's a personal thing. I try not to have both a bar and a shake in one day, but that's me, and even then my progress has been slow. Hope that helps.

Sue, there is a list of foods allowed on induction and neither the bars nor the candy is allowed. No low carb products at all are allowed unless they are on the list.

I have the rules for induction saved to Word. Would you like for me to send them to you? Send me a pm if you would.

Atkins is clearly sending out mixed messages. Kathloyn is right that the bars aren't on the Induction list. The Atkins direct catalog clearly states that the Morning Start bars and the Advantage bars are "appropriate" for Induction. No wonder you're confused. Now I am too.

According to his book you should not eat anything that is not on the list of "acceptable" foods. Those bars are not on that list. I would avoid them until after induction to get the maximum benefit of that very strict first two weeks.

I think I will avoid the bars until I get off induction - I've decided(me & DH) to stay on it 1-2 more weeks - we don't feel sick or deprived have more energy and we both have quite a bit of wgt to lose - so until we feel deprived or just plain sick of the foods we are going to stay with the basics in the Atkins book.

PS
Katholyn,
Thanks for the list!:D

Sue, I think it's always best to eat "real" food and stay away from the bars.

With that said, I always have one in my purse for emergencies when I'm hungry and there is no food available that's on my low-carb plan. I figure a bar is better than nothing or eating all those carbs.
