Okay, another choice: POP vs. POR

I don't know how many times I can keep rethinking my plans! We're going to stay for 4 nts. at SSR, then 3 nts. at POR-Mansions. Our group includes DH , DS9 and myself. The only discount I can get is AAA, so POR will be $124/nt. and POP would be $79/nt. I'd save about $140 by staying at POP instead, but would it be worth it? I've read so many great reviews about POP that I'm tempted, but DH really likes a restful hotel room..possibly still able to find at POP, but not as easily as at POR-Mansions.
Any opinions?

Thanks!

If you're looking for restful, POR wins hands down. We were at POP in January. '04 for 10 days, then POR in Oct '05 for 10 days. Even before were stayed at the moderate, I said NEVER AGAIN to a value resort unless there was no other way $-wise. After our stay in the moderate, I feel it is the only way to go!!!

Restful = POR Mansions

Stressful = POP

YMMV

Happy planning! :wave:

I definitely agree! While I love POP, it's not my idea of *quiet*!!! POR is very tranquil by comparison. I believe your family will be happier with the Moderate. ;)

I have been battling with the same scenario and I finally decided on POFQ rather than POP (we had considered POR also). We haven't stayed in either, but POP just didn't seem like the type of place I would be able to sit and relax. I felt a lot more comfortable with the moderate level.

and I'll stick with my initial reservation at POR...it's one of the few resorts that seems to consistently win praise!

Thanks!

Although I Love Pop it is not a place if you want some rest.

So I think POR is the better of the two.

Just curious - when are you going for a AAA rate of $79 at Pop? We are staying at Pop in May for about $86 + tax with AAA.

Our 3 nt. stay is for May 20, 21, and 22nd. Our quote was not for a preferred building ('60's) which would have been $10 more per night.

My general opinion is that when you are at Disney...you barely spend ANY time in your room. I would rather save the cash and spend it somewhere else instead of on a room I'm never in.

Stick with your plan. One word: Atmosphere. Not knocking POP, but POR has won awards for there landscaping/theming. We've stayed in both sections, loved them both. Have a great time and take the boat to DD.....now THAT'S relaxing. :flower:

POP = Fun, Fun, FUN! Bright colors, big icons.

POR would be the better choice of a restful resort.
