Okay 80's Girls...Here's one for us!

YES!!! I remember the tights with the lace around the ankle's!! And dont feel bad I and every girl in my high school wore them the same way!! What about stirrup pants and diaper pants with the little button in the front?

Actually I dont have the tights but I do have the white Candy's heels that I wore with them!!

All I can say is WOW - you all just rattled off my entire list elementary school-aged memories!!! Yes, I do have many memories of the 70's or should I say let 70's, as I was born in 76. But having 3 older sisters I am very aware of all that.... But OMG!! The french rolled jeans, roller skating, Milli Vanilli, Slap bracelets... Big Bangs, The charm bracelets, Pund Puppys/Purries.... Wow - Diaper pants - LOved um!!!! Where does this madness stop??? And can I just say, proudly, that I was a New Kids freak!! Loved Um!! :rolleyes1

Here are a few I remember: :woohoo:
1. Scratch & Sniff stickers & the "new" glittery, puffy stickers - to go a long with the sticker books of course
2. Real Genious - with Val Kilmer - anyone else remember this move???
3. THe PoGo Ball - similar to the Skip It
4. Number Munchers - the Math equivalent to Oregon Trail
5. Tiffany, "I think We're Alone Now" That was 1988 - so Im cutting it close
6. The Gummie Bears and The Wuzzles - 2 of my most favorite Disney Saturday Morning Cartoons - - - What about "Captain Caveman! & Son" ?
7. You are a child of the 80's if you know who Alex P. Keaton is
8. If you can finish, " If there's soemthing stranage, in your neighborhood, Who you gonna call - _____ _____!"
9. History wise - I remember watch the Challenger explode when I was in 2nd grade, or Reagen getting shot - John Lennon too
10. Devo - whip it
11. LOVE's Baby Soft perfume
12. Sweater Dresses
13. The original Dukes of Hazzard play sets
14. If can can name at least one of the Ghostbusters
15. If you purposly ripped and frayed your jeans (and sang Pour Some Sugar On Me)

I have got to call my sisters and get some more - this is great!! This is so much fun!! A far more happy post than the one was reading earlier about a wife her Dhs dirty little secret and dead beat men. This is so much more rewarding! :thumbsup2

Yes, I remember Celery Stalks at Mid-night!! What a great book - can still see the cover in my head! Oh to be a kid in the 80's again! What fond memories - Thanks OP! I only hope our children have great memories of their childhood as we do!! Like - Fur Sure! Totally! Gnarly, Rad! Ok ok ok ... Signing off! 16. You know how excellent Bill and Teds adventure was.... :lmao:

I don't remember those pants. Are they the ones that button up to the top and had flaps that flip down. I dad a pair of those and they came with a button (pin) that said something but I don't remember what it said. :confused3

WOW what a blast from the past! My friends and I used to play MASH CONSTANTLY!! I think we cheated EVERY SINGLE TIME!!! LOL!!! I must have really thought Jordan Knight and I were destined to live together in a mansion with a dozen kids :rotfl: Ahhhh, JEM, She-ra, and Hypercolor tee-shirts! Those were the days!! And I swear to god, I LIVED for Oregon Trail days when I was in 4th grade :rotfl: But I was REALLY lucky because later on that year, my best friend got a computer in her house and it had Oregon Trail on it! We must have played that silly game every day for two years straight!!! :woohoo:

What about all the pants with the suspenders? The jeans or what ever kind of pants they were came really high up (right under your...). My older sister had those. They were so Jodi Watley (sp?) - now THERE is an 80's name!

".....Jem - truley outrageous, truley truley truley outrageous - JEM!" What were the other words to that song?? Thats all I can remember! :rotfl2:

Oh My Gawd!!! I was just listening to Def Leppard on the way home before!!! remember the barrets that you could weave the ribbons thru and have the long ribbons hanging down with the beads on the ends? How about beneton? and the jeans with the zippers on the back? (when I was in high school boys loved these!) And the jeans with the zippers up the legs?

I lived for New Kids On the Block!!!! I had the biggest crush on Jordan Knight!!! My bedroom walls (all four of them) were covered in poster and around my door I had pinned up thier trading cards!! I still have thier tapes! OMG Remember TAPES? (what are cd's?)LOL! I still crush on Jordan but which one of them was gay?

I was trying to think of other books that were popular at this time.. Other than BSC, and the Ramona Books or, how 'bout this one - Super Fudge. But what was that one - it was a collection of scary/spooky stories... I rememeber the one specificaly about the girl who always wore a (black?) ribbon around her neck and the kids always asked why - then she took it off and her head fell off?? Anyone else rememer this book?? My son brought it home not long ago - I had flash backs when I saw the cover!

How bout the "Choose Your Own Adventure Books"??

Nevermind TAPES...who remembers POCKET ROCKERS??

I remember those books! I think they were called "Scary Stories To Tell In the Dark." Scared the heck out of me!!! I also remember the Super Fudge book, by Judy Blume I think!!! She wrote a ton of those - Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing, Fudge-A-Mania. Made me so glad I didn't have a little brother! :scared:

Jem is my name! No one else is the same, Jem is my name!

We are the Mis-Fits, the Mis-Fits. Our sonds are better! We are the Mis-Fits, the Mis-Fits, and we're gonna get her!!!!!

Here is the opening song and video of Jem! :wizard:

Who else loved "Goosebumps" books???

I LOVED Goosebumps!!! lol I used to have a huge book with like 5 stories in them, and when you opened up the book it screamed. lol

Was anyone else TOTALLY into Thundercats like I was?? lol :lmao:

I was SUCH a tomboy when it came to cartoons. I loved Ninja Turtles, Thundercats, The REAL Ghostbusters, and here are few that I loved maybee some you all have seen too. ;)

Dinosaucers
Tigersharks
Karate Kat

Remember that annoying minco machine guy on the commercial for those teeny tiney race car things? He used to talk really really fast? Just a thought I was having.....

Here are a few others I had forgotten about: Holly Hobby - that was another token part of the 80's. You either had the Holly Hobby sleeping bag or night gown. :sad2:

Same with Under-roos and Freaky Freezy's. You remeber the gloves that would either change color or have a picture apprear when you were outside in the cold? And By the way - the Freeky Freezys/Freezers were the WORST gloves in the world. They didnt keep your hands warm for beans! Just a few new - old thoughts!! Enjoy! :wave2:

Thanks for the thread. I have been reminicing about the 80's this week. My biggest memory is the roller rink. We had one in a town near us that would send a bus every Friday night, but we had to make sure there was enough kids to ride the bus so we had a list to call every week to get people to go. Every once in a while a song will come on the radio that brings me back there. How pathetic is that? :rotfl2: I can't think of many off the top of my head but "We build this city" is one of them.

Kanagroos: These just recently made a reappearance and my husband thought I was knutz when I said that I remembered them.

Holly Hobby: Had a lunch box, no jammies or sleeping back.

Parachute Pants, Leg warmers, zipper leg jeans were the fashion statement for me. Oh, and Kirk Cameron was my wallpaper!

Oh this is a fun thread...I was sitting watching tv the other night and stopped on an infomerricial that was selling a 80's collection of music from Timelife or something...I sat there while my hubby was on computer and we sang the tunes and laughed...remembering wearing jeans with satin skates patches on the back pockets, pompoms on my white skates, Nike t-shoes,
feathered hair, rabbit fur jackets were big in my home town...

"say you, say me..." Lionel Ritchie "ebony and ivory..."
"skyrockets in flight(boom boom)afternoon delight"
"Caribean Queen"
"This is Thriller..."michael Jackson

Oh my, and I saw the other day on my DD's magazine-Holly Hobby is making a come back-new and improved. New clothes and style, but she is the real thing! Holly Hobby!

Letsee, and then we watched movies like :

Labyrynth
Dark Crystal
Never Ending Story,
and The Princess Bride. :sunny:

I totally used to pretend to pass the Southern Oracle (Never Ending Story). OUr maid was great and would always play along. When she was vacuuming, I would try to run by without her "getting me" :rotfl: Keep in mind I was 3 and 4 :rotfl:
