I'm seriously considering renting an ECV from Walker. however I would need the heavy duty EVC, and their representative was worried that would not fit on the boat. Can anyone tell me how this would work?

Which boat are you talking about? Some they fit on. Others they don't, and it doesn't matter what size the ECV. It also has a lot to do with the water levels.

Wow that was a stupid post (mine I mean).
Kind of forgot to mention I was talking about a CRUISE ship... doh. :scared:

But while you're here and since I decided against taking it on the cruise but still want to use it in the parks - can I use it on the boat between the Boardwalk and Epcot?

Yes, it can be used on the "bigger" boats like the Friendship boats nearly all the time. Occasionally the water levels are too low for it to be boarded safely. If this is the case, it is a very short walk/ride to Epcot from any of the Boardwalk resorts.

Yes, you can use them on those boats, as long as the water levels are right.

I took my small travel scooter on our last cruise without any problem, but I had to get a modified room in order for the door into the room to be big enough. Funny thing is, that once I got in the warmer temps there in the Bahama's, I didn't even need my cane. My scooter never left the room. When we got back into port, I needed those things again, because the pain in my feet had returned.

Hmm can I use it to cross the little bay in epcot between ws & FW?

I am not sure, as I thinks it depends on the water levels there too, but hoenstly I have found that it takes a lot longer than just wheeling around to where you want to be :)

I know, but my wife will be walking and I was trying to keep this as easy on her as possible.

Everytime I have been there I have been able to get my wheelchair on the boats, including those from Wilderness Lodge to MK... So you should be ok, barring drought.

I think the issue they are worried about with the cruise ship is that it probably won't fit through the cabin door unless you are in a HC cabin, which I assume you are not. My scooter is the same width as a wc and it could go through the cabin door with a lot of maneuvering, some bumping of the wall, door frame and door, and there was no room to spare. I don't think that you could get the larger scooters in there. So then the question would be if there is somewhere else it could be parked and charged. I did leave it outside the door several times if we were just there to change clothes or something and weren't going to take long. But the halls are narrow so it would be in the way if it were there for long.

I would ask on the Disney Cruise Board and see if anyone there has ideas or has dealt with this before. If you are on another cruise line check out cruisecritic.com.

I know you mentioned not having a place to store it if you rent for the week and don't take it on the cruise, but if you are staying on site you may be able to ask Luggage Services to hold it for you while you are on the cruise. Also you could just arrange for Walker to bring it for the day you will be in the parks, pick it up the next day and then another rental with drop off/pick up when you get back.

Thank you - I called Walker today and made arrangements because of this thread. They were amazing.
