I agree with you 100%.

I sure hope Sam's Club adds a line to their sign about live plants. In theory I suppose she was right, the sign didn't state live plants couldn't be returned, but come on this is pushing it a little too much. And she was satisfied because they gave in to her because in theory she was right. All I can say is what others have already said....tacly, tacky, tacky!

Gee, never thought of returning a plant a month later. Who needs a Christmas plant after Christmas.

I wonder if she returned her Christmas tree too.

Technically she is right - if it isn't written down somewhere they have to take the plant back but it is totally tacky!! When I worked in retail there was a customer who routinely bought designer clothes the day they arrived - kept them balled up in trash bags and waited until they were marked down several times and she had a coupon before bringing the wrinkled mess back for a price difference. However, when I took over the department I advised her that there was a "new policy" of a 24 hour period before returned merchandise could be put back onto the floor. We had to press out the wrinkles - didn't we!! She didn't get the refund and I don't think she tried that trick anymore!

She's probably a 'frequent flyer', the Manager no doubt has dealt with her in the past. I have been in retail for a long time and am still amazed at what people think are 'owed' to them. I've been to court because I've had employees assaulted by customers (her credit card was declined so she punched the cashier in the back) I've seen employees spit on because we didn't have the hot toy at Christmas. This was Toys R Us.
The Mgr. was right to refund the money though.
