OK - Who's Irish??

Are you Irish?

  • Yes, 100%

  • Yes, 50%

  • I have no idea

  • No Irish blood here

Results are only viewable after voting.
DH is 1/2 Irish and 1/2 Welsh but he identifies himself as Irish through and through. In his opinion, the Welsh are just misplaced Irish.

:yay: :yay: Me!!
Paternal Grandmother's maiden name was O'Shea.
Not sure what percentage I am though.

ETA: Crap. I voted I have no idea. Meaning I have no idea what percent.

My Mom is 1/4 Irish, my DH is 50% Irish, 50% German from both sides of his family. His Mom is half and half and his Dad was half and half. My married last name is most definately Irish.

Somewhere above 50%. Mom was 75% Irish, 25% Scottish, so I get 37.5% from her. Dad was 50% Irish, the rest a mix of English, Welsh, Scottish and American Indian.

You look at my kids and there's no mistaking how Irish they are!

Suzanne

No Irish here. English on my mothers side, Swedish & English on my fathers side.

It's ok - that's the blonde part!! :teeth:

Part Irish, but no where near 50% so I honestly didn't vote.

Great granparents are: one from Waterford, the other no idea. Both DHs and my granparents are second generation and they all married outside their heritage...so my percentages would be @ 25% I think. My kids? too much thinking.

I don't think I have any irish blood. However, my DH is 100% Irish (his parents are from Co. Mayo) and he often asks if I would like some Irish in me.

On my mother's side my great great great grandfather came here from County Antrim in the mid-1800's. That is well documented. On my father's side, it's a little more sketchy, but "someone" was supposed to have come from Ireland, the others came from Denmark and Wales. :confused3

No Irish blood here (all British and German), but I have curly red hair and pasty white skin, so I hear all the time about how I look Irish. This comes up because hubby and I travel frequently to Ireland with our work and plan on moving there sometime in the next couple of years.

I voted 100% because I am an optimist. I am about 98% positive that if you were to go on the formalities I am a big fat 0, but I was born on St. Patrick's Day, and as I told my kindergarten kids today -- that means I am part leprechaun. I celebrate St. Pat's day more than anyone I know, and frequently allow myself little Irish celebrations throughout the year as well. That's really gotta count for something. You should have seen my dancing up a storm to Gaelic Storm last night in my living room -- if you don't know them, be sure to check them out! I keep my Off Kilter here at school for if the mood ever strikes me over lunch. My friend just made me a CD of traditional Irish drinking tunes and we will be using that for day 9 of St. Pat's Fest 2006 on Saturday night. Day 10 is reserved as a day of rest...

Sorry this is long. We just found out that school is closing early today and I'm just as excited as anyone else!

Off to lunch...

No Irish blood here (English, Scottish, Welsh and French) but I'm going to be partying like I'm Irish tomorrow night ;) :thumbsup2

100% Irish here - 2nd generation out of the old country

Of course I married into the WASPYest family on the planet so I've been kicked out of the club :lmao:

My dads family came from Carrickfergus, Northern Ireland in the late 1700s.
I voted 50% my father's fathers and my mother's mothers side of the family came from Ireland the other two grandparents came from England. So I'm half Irish and half English.

My husband is part Irish, and so is my son, so would that make me an honorary Irish-woman? :confused3

That would make you IBM (Irish by marriage) which is what my DH is.:thumbsup2

I'm 100% and for our wedding shower my mother gave my DH a t-shirt that read: Pray for me my wife is Irish!

I'm a mutt! I'm 12.5% Irish, but I'm also 25% Italian, Hungarian and Russian, and 12.5% Scottish!
