DD and I will probably do an early movie and then spend the evening at home., and have some special snacks. I am sure their will be games of Clue and Sorry! I think she was practicing from NYE last night as she was awake until 1am. At midnight I heard her exclaim - MIDNIGHT ROCKS!
My neighbor usually does a firework display in the cul-de-sac in front of our houses, so we can watch fireworks at midnight.
Nope, we have no plans that night. My only hope is that my neighbors behave enough with the fireworks they're bound to set off & that there's no houses that go down in flames that evening.
Speak of the devil--I just heard some going off as I was typing that. Ugh.
Me and the kids will sit around in our little New Years Eve hats and jammies drinking Sparkling grape juice, playing with our noisemakers and watching the ball drop. DH will most likely be on the computer trying his best to take over Germany in some WWII PC game through all of this.
As you can tell, we're party animals here too.
I remember when we used to go out for New Years and we always had fun. I guess it changes when you have kids. I just can't imagine leaving them and bringing the New Year in without them.
DH and I have never been out on NYE. We usually stay home, have appetizer type yummies, watch videos, and go to bed early. It's wonderful. DD is at her dad's so I don't even have to worry about going out to pick her up somewhere.
We usually go to my sisters house for food and games till about ten and then we go home to sleep! The New Year looks just fine when I wake up in the morning!
I was planning on spending it at home on the couch with my kitties. However, DH has informed me that we will be going to the in-laws for poker night. Of course that's okay with me, I've become a Texas Hold 'Em addict!
We are going to some friend's house. I was volunteered to make lasagna so we are going to have dinner and just hang out. My hubby and I DO NOT stay up late so we plan on leaving around 9. Our friends know this and make fun of us. We ring in 9:00-9:30 every year
Well, we aren't doing anything big. We will go over to my DSIL's house and have dinner & watch the ball drop...pretty much the same thing we do every Saturday night, with the exception of the ball!!!!
I hate NYE. I hate that people put so much pressure on an evening, thinking that their life is going to change magically without any effort on their part.
It's been years...probably close to 20...since I went to one of those big banquet-style NYE parties. I remember being kissed by a bunch of strangers who were drunk, and hating every second of it. The end of "When Harry Met Sally", where she's at the NYE party faking a laugh at a joke some dorky drunk was telling her...that was me.
NYE and Valentine's Day are both holidays that seem so much more important when you are single and don't have anyone. The kids and DH usually make it to midnight on NYE, but I'm usually asleep. The nice thing is that the year actually changes whether I'm awake or not! I'm past the age of wanting to go out and get drunk, so staying home, in comfortable clothes, works for me.
