Ok, who isn't doing anything on NYE?

We always go up to my parents cabin for an extended weekend. It is my parents, us and the kids, my sister and her family, and my aunt and her boyfriend. The kids spend lots of time sledding on the big hill behind the cabin, and New Year's Eve night we are making a bunch of pizzas and snacks and playing board games with the kids. The kids pass out about 11 or so, and then the adults play Pop Up Pirate.

Pop Up Pirate is actually a kid's Fischer Price game. There is a plastic barrel with slots around the sides of it that you push the pirate figure down into. Then everyone takes turns putting plastic swords into the slots. Whoever pops the pirate up with their sword wins, or in the adult version of the game, has to take a shot! Funny thing is, no one is really a big drinker, so we find a VERY weak liquor for our shots!!

We'll be staying in on New Year's Eve. I don't like going out on NYE.

I'm thrilled to hear that Dick Clark will be hosting the NYE party again this year. I just assumed his health had deteriorated so much that he wouldn't be able to. Thanks for letting us know!! You've really made my day and now I look forward to seeing him again. It just wasn't the same without him last year.

We'll probably go out to dinner but we do that every Saturday night anyway. I'm not too worried about the crowds or the roads because it seems nobody goes out for New Year's Eve anymore.

We'll go to my sister's for an early dinner so the kids could play together, but we'll be home by 8:30 - 9:00. We'll all be asleep not long after that. We never make it to the ball drop.

Another one on the couch with Dick Clark and probably a movie. I'll be the one trying to convince DS12 and DS15 that it's ok to go to bed before 12.

DS20 and DD19 will be out, of course. They are home from college and are having fun reconnecting with all the old HS friends. DS20 has a good friend that goes to BC and is renting an apartment this year, so I believe that is where the big party will be.  Makes me nostalgic for those crazy years when I would love going out to a party on NYE. Oh, to be young again!

Can I play too??? I'll be the youngster posting (hey, I only have under 200 posts and you're all in the bazillions).

I'm too scared to be on the roads on NYE! Plus that, my 120lb weenie of a dog is scared of fireworks. I have to be here, so that she can shove her head in between me and the couch.

We always had to give our dog tranquilizers on 4th of July & NYE because she'd freak out. Poor things.

We'll be home too. We usually get some of our favorite junk foods and pig out! We haven't done anything on New Year's Eve in years. My husband used to play in a rock and roll band (15 years ago) and he HATED New Year's Eve. He used to say that everyone was trying too hard to have a good time.

We'll be safe in our family room watching a movie.

We might play games with the boys but that's it. Of course, during the day we will be up at a casino with my brother and SIL but we will be home by 8. :)

We lead such boring lives! We take the three little ones out to dinner at a family friendly restaurant that does a "NYE" for kids night. THis year the kids are sleeping over my mom's after that and I'm using that opportunity to pack for our January 5 trip. DH will be asleep before midnight and I'll probably stay up and wait for the older four to call at midnight.

After the hustle and bustle of Christmas, I am very excited to just stay home. We will put on our jammies early, have a nice dinner, and watch New Year's come across the different countries on TV. Suits me just fine.

DH works every NYE and the kids and I normally go to a "family" party at a neighbor's house and stay until 1:00 a.m. or so and then go visit daddy at work when we get home. We are not usually in bed until about 2:30 a.m.

However, this year New Year's Day is on a Sunday and I am in charge of teaching Sunday School to 1st and 2nd graders at 8:45 a.m.

I think I might just stay home and go to bed early.

:rotfl: I totally agree. DH and I have decided NYE is the most overrated "holiday" there is. My single friend always goes out to parties, drinks and has pictures of people doing things that I seriously hope they don't remember doing and tells me all of the "hilarious" stories. I just smile all the while thinking I'm so glad to have a great family and no need for large quantities of alcohol to have a good time. She still doesn't get why I won't go out with her to celebrate! :earseek:

I've never gone out on NYE-too much hype I think!LOL! It'll just be like any other Saturday night here!!!!

I've never been a NYE kind of gal. So I'll be home alone. I'll stay up to let the out-of-towners back in the house!

Will be at my friends house with her and her 3 DS's, having peppermintini's (the bucket thing you can get on clearance at Target right now), eating some awesome buffalo chicken nuggets and crab legs. Then I will wander down the hill to my house, no driving needed.

We stay home on NYE. I make a ton of pick foods and we watch dvd's then we turn on New Year's Rockin' Eve and watch till the ball drops . . . :flower:

We used to have the best time spending the night at a friend's house with several others. We would drink and play games and just act silly.

Everyone moved away though including us so now I just stay home and relax. And this year I'll say GOOD RIDDANCE to a horrible year!!!

We'll be home. :cool1: On Sunday, we are going out to celebrate DD's birthday. princess:
