That is my other choice besides GF. It is 400 less. How far do you walk from the check in area to the garden wing? Who loves it there?

The walk isn't that far, it's a covered breezeway the entire time. The wing rooms are the same as the tower rooms, only you don't get a balcony. If you get ground floor you have a patio though. The rooms are fine, we just prefer the old decor. DH found everything just too "feng sui" for him, LOL. The rooms are large, two queens and a daybed. You realize of course that unless you are in the main building concierge at GF you also have to walk to other buildings to get to your room, don't you? I'd say that the walk to the wing at CR is about the same as that at the GF. HTH. :)

Great, now I get to help you out! Garden Wing is great and is worth it to save that money in my opinion. And depending on when you're going, they may upgrade you to a Tower room.:wizard:. If any were available during my dates, you'd see me posting "Poly, CR Garden Wing or WL? Help!!!!" LOL.

We stayed in a garden room last Sept. We loved it. We asked for a ground floor room and we got a patio. We were near the pool.

The walk isn't that long to the main building.

HTH

We've booked Garden Wing, Garden view for our 2008 trip.
It's our first stay at a Deluxe.

I looked at the map of CR that I found in UG and it doesn't look like the walk is too bad from the main area to the Garden Wing.

<3333 Garden Wng. This year, we got 5105 on the ground floor, and it was great. 30 second walk from the pool, there was the patio, and CR is the only resort to have the online concierge thing (as of July, I don't know if they added it to the other resorts since then), which means there is a computer in your room with no extra charge. The walk really isn't far at all, 60 seconds if that. If you do manage to stay in the Garden Wing, I hope you have a magical stay!

Do all the rooms have a computer? This would not be concierge. Is there a fridge? Is there a safe? Does anyone have pictures of the rooms that are in garden wing? Would we be looking at construction? I am sorry, I am just so confused. GF is 600 more and CR is 230 more. I really dont know what to do. UGHHHHHHHHHHHH:sad2:

First post, we stayed at CR, Gardwn Wing (South) and loved the proximity to MK. Cheaper than the Tower, but we enjoyed all the benefits of the monorail, restaurants, etc. I'm glad they re-did the rooms though, they were pretty loud...

all rooms, whether CL or not have the computers. When we were there the internet was free, but that may change any day. WHat you have to do is sign on, it'll tellyou you are on for 24 hours at a charge of $0.00. After the 24 hours you have to sign back on and it'll give you the same message, a charge of $0.00. I never was able to access the online concierge features, but was able to plug in the ethernet calble to my laptop and check email, let the kids get on diensychannel.com, etc.

I'd much rather stay in the Wing rooms (we did a few years ago and loved it) than the tower rooms because you have to wait for elevators in the tower. The wings only have two floors (or is it three, can't remember) and you can easily use the stairs.

Why did you use your laptop? Can't you get on the internet from the hotels computer?

If you get a first floor room, your patio will face Bay Lake. There's no more beautiful room in WDW: you can drink your coffee while watching the boat traffic through the morning mist. At night you can have a drink in the dark.

FOr some reason, the room's computer had "issues" and I'll leave it at that. As soon as we got into the room I tried out the online concierge to request extra towels only to find that it wouldn't come up. I called anf talked to the IT guy and told him I had a laptop with wireless, he said to try that. It worked that way but was very slow on wireless, so I used the ethernet cable hooked to the in room unit and it sped up dramatically.

Oh yeah, the day we checked out the in room unit decided to star working, LOL :rotfl:

When I stayed at the Contemporary in August 2006 it was just after they installed the computers and since then my parents and I have had two more stays in December 2006 and August 2007 with the free internet.

That garden wing view can be lovely...but beware !

The same building that has some of the most amazing views has some of the worst as well....

Make sure you are staying on the bay lake side...There are lots of rooms that look right out onto the parking lot as well... The difference is night and day.

According to 'The Unofficial Guide', rooms ending in numbers 52-70 are to be avoided....

That is a very good tip.

I posted on your other thread where you said you chose CR, not sure if you saw it, but here are some pics you wanted re the south wing:

I just wanted to chime in on the elevators in the tower. Before my first stay last month, I saw alot of people speak of packed elevators and long waits. I was pleasantly surprised when I never had to wait more than 1 minute for one, and only once did I experiance a very cramped elevator. There was a large family, must have been 12 people and all tried to cram into an elevator that already had 4 people in it. I stayed on, but two other people that were already in just stepped off and grabbed another one. I was there for 8 days, so only one cramped ride is pretty good :)

I agree with what you have said. Out of all my stays in the Tower of the Contemporary, the only time I ever noticed long waits for the elevators was around the peak dinning times in the evenings. However all the other times there was little or not wait at all. Besides once you get in the elevators they are very fast, so you're not in there for a long time. Personally with all the lines you need to wait in for attractions at the parks and waiting to be seated at restaurants, I don't consider waiting along time for an elevator to be a huge factor of staying in the Tower of the Contemporary.
