That is my other choice besides GF. It is 400 less. How far do you walk from the check in area to the garden wing? Who loves it there?
Great, now I get to help you out! Garden Wing is great and is worth it to save that money in my opinion. And depending on when you're going, they may upgrade you to a Tower room. That is my other choice besides GF. It is 400 less. How far do you walk from the check in area to the garden wing? all rooms, whether CL or not have the computers. When we were there the internet was free, but that may change any day. WHat you have to do is sign on, it'll tellyou you are on for 24 hours at a charge of $0.00. After the 24 hours you have to sign back on and it'll give you the same message, a charge of $0.00. I never was able to access the online concierge features, but was able to plug in the ethernet calble to my laptop and check email, let the kids get on diensychannel.com, etc.
Why did you use your laptop? Can't you get on the internet from the hotels computer?
When I stayed at the Contemporary in August 2006 it was just after they installed the computers and since then my parents and I have had two more stays in December 2006 and August 2007 with the free internet.all rooms, whether CL or not have the computers. That garden wing view can be lovely...but beware !
The same building that has some of the most amazing views has some of the worst as well....
Make sure you are staying on the bay lake side...There are lots of rooms that look right out onto the parking lot as well... The difference is night and day.
According to 'The Unofficial Guide', rooms ending in numbers 52-70 are to be avoided....
I'd much rather stay in the Wing rooms (we did a few years ago and loved it) than the tower rooms because you have to wait for elevators in the tower. The wings only have two floors (or is it three, can't remember) and you can easily use the stairs.
I agree with what you have said. Out of all my stays in the Tower of the Contemporary, the only time I ever noticed long waits for the elevators was around the peak dinning times in the evenings. However all the other times there was little or not wait at all. Besides once you get in the elevators they are very fast, so you're not in there for a long time. Personally with all the lines you need to wait in for attractions at the parks and waiting to be seated at restaurants, I don't consider waiting along time for an elevator to be a huge factor of staying in the Tower of the Contemporary.I just wanted to chime in on the elevators in the tower. Before my first stay last month, I saw alot of people speak of packed elevators and long waits. I was pleasantly surprised when I never had to wait more than 1 minute for one, and only once did I experiance a very cramped elevator. There was a large family, must have been 12 people and all tried to cram into an elevator that already had 4 people in it. I stayed on, but two other people that were already in just stepped off and grabbed another one. I was there for 8 days, so only one cramped ride is pretty good![]()
