So, will we get approved for the loan through disney? :scared: We have pretty good credit, but I personally am always nervous when waiting for approval on things like this. Are they strict on who they approve? I assume that even though they don't report to credit agencies that they do a credit report? Do I need to be nervous? (although I will be even if you say no ;) )

I would not worry. It is pretty easy to get through Disney's credit policy. So where are you buying, how many points, give the fun details.

Well, we want to do Saratoga (mainly for the nice discount). We're going to start probably with the minimum (still working on the point details-I'd like to get more, hubby wants to stay low-I'll have to fill you in on who wins later). I guess we can always add more later.
We have a trip already planned and paid for in October, so we really only need points this year for the trip we are planning at Easter and I see that 160 will more than cover us for that trip. It'll be really nice to have our uy start in May since we're teachers. Having those points added right before summer might work out to be a really nice thing some years.

So, once I'm official, how do I get a neat little picture to go in my signature showing that I'm the ultimate Disney Addict?
You know that's what becoming a member is all about-the fancy pic in your signature, right? :rotfl2:

That is the first thing I did!! Added the picture. 160 is what we started with. We just added on this year at AKV. Good luck with everything!

We got appoved last week, so trust me, if we got approved, you will get approved!! We are still paying off our wedding, and bought a brand new xterra last year, so our debt is pretty high (but not unmanagable and will hopefully go completely away soon)

We are buying 160 at Saratoga, is that what you decided on also??

We are also going in October, but hope to use points at a resort.... We don't know if this will happen or not, but we have good vacation from work so we can be extremely flexible. If October doesn't work, we will just change to another time...

WOOHOO!!! We got approved today. Can't believe how easy it was. The paperwork is in the mail-so we're pretty much official. SSR with 160 or 170 points. We ended up not having to finance as much as we had anticipated because we're doing a down payment and we got the 1600.00 thing from them with the 500.00 gift card!!
I am so excited. I jumped up and down in the driveway when my husband called to tell me the news.
I did hear from a friend today, though, that it is just a myth that you can write off the dues on your taxes. Has anyone actually done this-with an official tax person?

We are waiting on approval as I type ....yes it's a little:rolleyes1 I did ask our accountant about that and the only info he knew right off the bat was the interest you pay on a loan for property is a write off as far as the dues :confused3 we don't yet. I'm thinking probably not because that would be toooo gooood. Congratulations!!!!! on your new home away from home:yay: :yay:

Yes and no. The interest you pay on your contract MAY be deductable. It usually is but different people have different tax situations so it is best to check. The amount of dues that relates to property taxes is deductable, however, the balance of the dues are generally not deductable unless it is operated as a rental property. If operated as a rental property, the pro rata share of the dues for your personal use is not deductable. Besides, Disney frowns on ownership strictly for rental purposes.
