I turn mine off at night and when I'm out of the house. I just don't feel right if I leave it on.

At work I leave it on and it sounds like crickets!

At home I shut it off. I just hope I am not killing it. I was told it was an insult to it to turn it off at night.

I leave mine on, for the most part. Ocassionly, I'll re-boot it. (At night, I usually put it in the "Stand By" mode, to put it in a lower-power state.
