OK Now I'm scared

I haven't seen any snakes (thank God) However, I was surprised (actually...I screamed) when a giant armadillo was right in front of me when I came around a corner on one of the paths through the garden at ASMu (at night:eek: ) Some of the cuter wildlife I encountered were several adorable brown bunny rabbits. I hope I NEVER see a snake:scared1:

OMG!! THis just happened to me! I decided to take advantage of an awesome AP rate at ASMu for the F & W...turned a corner...well my room was way over yonder in CF..in the back...back....facing a wooded area....I screamed and said , what the he!! was that?! I was by myself! (AT night)
I couldnt wait to get to AKV and see the other animals:rotfl2:
Pretty sure now in the future I will make sure I get a room that is not located on the ground floor..had a nice Big toad waiting for me at my door as well...I did not allow him entry..good rate or not!

Well, I just read that the girl was in a room on the 2nd floor......... There goes my theory of requesting an upper floor :scared:

Finally found it! here is the post about the snake at the BC I previously posted about (it was a long time ago!) It's under The DIS Discussion Forums - DISboards.com > Disney Trip Planning Forums > Disney Resorts
What Snakes Have You seen? page 7:

Ok picture this... it was Sep 11,2001 and they just closed the parks (attacks) and we were only allowed to go back to our resorts. We were on the 3rd floor on the BC , get off the elevator and there was a black snake in the hallway. We got passed it to our room and called the front desk. We kept watching it until it went under someones door. I was banging on the door to make sure no one was in there. The animal guy came up and we told him it where it was and he got it!!! Can you imagine coming back to your room and finding a snake in your luggage?????? ahhhhgggg

steffali~No one can tell me what kind of snake it was! I have a pix on my cell phone and several "experts" have looked at it. My DH thinks its a garden snake (no teeth) by its markings. But the side of the snake almost had triangles and his head was not perfectly rounded; not too pointy or triangular shaped either. A friend told me it looks like a water snake but no one can confirm! Weird :confused3 And being I had no teeth marks  or holes where it struck me leads everyone to believe it was harmless (I'm sure it was non-poisionus or I wouldn't be sitting here writing this  ) And I have such a snake phobia it's not funny; why he chose to strike me was even weirder!

Ok people, I kid you not, I am going to see about changing resorts from the BC.:scared: :scared: :scared:
This is really starting to freak me out!!!!!!

But you're staying in the VILLAS! LOL

Just get a top floor room:) You are going to be a hop, skip and jump from WS:)

Please don't do that. The BC is a lovely resort, and it's not more likely to have snakes that any other Disney resort. There's an equal chance of the incident described above happening at ANY resort in Central FL, Disney or otherwise. It has nothing to do with the resort.

And it's a tiny chance. Honestly, having snakes in the hallways or rooms is NOT a common occurence at any resort. Really and truly.

If you want someone to tell you how often it happens, or promise it won't happen to you...well, no one can. You vacation in a tropical enviroment, you're going to have a somewhat higher chance of seeing a snake. But in all truth, WDW is not teeming with snakes. Yes, they're there. But it's not common to see one. People do, sure, once in awhile. But that doesn't mean that you will.

I know, I never stayed in a villa I'm a little concerned about the walkway going to them. A million things are running around my mind

The walkway from BC to BCV isn't in some secluded wilderness area, it's in a small courtyard, surrounded on all sides by parts of the BC and BCV buildings. You exit the BC building right opposite the gift shop, walk through a little tiny covered patio, and then walk alongside the BC building on a very short covered walkway. It's a about a 30-second walk.

I knew I didnt need to spend extra money to stay at animal kingdon lodge. I have a chance to see a real snake exhibit in my room at an all star.:rotfl2:

I am feeling faint...i hate s______....We r at BWV in Dec...will have hubby check the room...knees feeling weak.............

First, I would like to personally thank this mama snake for providing me with hours of entertainment reading this thread. It's a good one.

Second: Has it occurred to anyone that black snakes might eat bedbugs? Because maybe I'll call Disney and reserve me a "snake room."

I definitely would not change resorts because of a snake sighting. They are rare and can happen anywhere, even tho the chance of happening in your room are slim to none. No one has more of a phobia of snakes than me (especially since my last "encounter" with one at home!:scared1: ) and I wouldn't think twice about staying at any of the Disney resorts (although I would now NEVER stay in a Garden Wing room at CR-but I personally don't care for this resort anyway so I'm safe! :rotfl: ). My DH is not as enthusiastic about our trips to WDW as I am :confused3 and when I told him the other night if I ever saw a snake in our resort room I would never go back, he got this twinkle in his eye and said "Really?!...") No, he really wouldn't, I don't think he would!?...:confused3   Uh-oh

That's funny my husband would probably put a snake in the room himself if it would mean I would never want to go back...... He likes it there but would love to go on vacation some where else every once in awhile .. Is there even another vacation spot :confused3

I have been going to Disney for sometime now and up until last October had not seen a snake there. But I was on here one day and came across a post about snakes. I hate them, one of my biggest fears!! But I still read the post and told my family about it. Well wouldn't you know it, I saw 2 snakes that trip in October. We were staying at the BWV and we were going to the bus one morning. There was this bird in a bush going nuts, well DH took a closer look and there was this fat black snake headed towards the bird. Which we figured was protecting her nest. Next on was at Typhoon Lagoon. We were coming back from the slides and getting ready to leave. Well I bent over to pick up my stuff and saw this long black thing. At first I thought it was a hose...but it was moving (luckly away from us). Scared the crap out of me. DH was sitting outside Flametree in the smoking section and one of the CM's blocked off an area of the walk way so that I snake could go across. I guess they should put up a sign that says "Snake crossing".

I know that there are a lot of snakes down there, but in the rooms!! That would freak me right out!!!

We were in the lazy river at Typhoon Lagoon and saw a snake in the water. It fell in and was trying to get out. It was kindof scary. I hate snakes, but I am not deathly afraid of them. Most people didn't even know it was in there with them.

Wish I didn't see this thread, lol.

First the woman who had the snake with the eggs in their room with a sick child is my hero for not going balistic and still staying in her new rock star suite because I would have been "move me to the castle or I'm going postal!" ;) Anyway I'm trying to think that if this happened to us who would have got the children out because I don't know who's afraid of snakes more me or my husband we would have been pulling a George kastanza on this one :rotfl:

I think this type of thing is rare but I can't help but think of the people who stayed in that room without knowing this snake was in there setting up a maternity ward!! lol
