Reading one of the threads below on the Eastern and dining rotations, etc... It's mentioned there is a 'chocolate night/buffet'...

I'd LOVE some details... I've only done a couple of 4 Days cruises so this is not offered... I'd love some info!

I second the notions on details for chocolate buffet . . . in fact, I think all cruises should offer a chocolate buffet every night! :thumbsup2

The dessert buffet happens on the night of the last sea day and starts at 11 pm. There is a wide variety of desserts and does have a lot of chocolate in it.

Our DIS group on our last two long cruises (the 10 day Christmas Cruise in 2004 and the May Double Scoop cruise in 2006) met up for it and brought our own wine. Banfi Rose Regale was a popular choice as it goes so well with chocolate. I'm not a wine drinker but even tried a little bit.

Enjoy!

I believe the "Chocolate Buffet" is part of what used to be called the "Midnight Desert Buffet" ... I think they are simply calling it the "Desert Buffet" now because it starts a little earlier (11:00).

Anyway, the Chocolate Buffet has a ton of chocalatey deserts along with a large chocolate fountain that they use to drench pretty much anything you want in chocolate ... marshmellows, strawberries, pinneaple, cookies, etc.

my recollection is that this buffet is not nearly as extensive as you might imagine -- rather than a dining room full of desserts, it is a couple of tables at various locales throughout the ship with some desserts on them -- think petit fours size.

Honestly, if you blink, you'll miss it. (Or maybe I missed the "real deal" and only saw satellite tables)

I did a search on "chocolate buffet" and saw that most people said the desserts looked better than they tasted with the exception of the chocolate fountain. I think it's still worth a sample though . . . . :rolleyes1

I think what you are talking about is the late night snacks that are put out outside the clubs and lounges each night. The dessert buffet is set up to run down the middle aisle of Lumiere's.

Mmmmmmm the chocolate fountain..............................

you mean I MISSED it ???? On no !!! Now I will just have to book another cruise to check it out.

thanks !!!!!

Go to the first page here and you'll see some buffet pictures. (I didn't upload them all, but they have way more than this). You'll also see the tables someone mentioned above...those are late night snack tables. The buffet is actually held in Lumieres.

Thanks !!! --- now I HAVE to book another cruise !!!

The only reason I knew about the buffet was from our main server at dinner - until I then looked at the finer print in the Navigator - sure enough, the Dessert Buffet at Lumieres was specifically listed. So, be sure to look carefully at the listing of venues that are open with food being provided at the various time frames. It was a popular place to be when we were on board and the lineup to get in and go through the line was pretty long. But wait staff came through the line with chocolate-covered strawberries which made it easier to wait!!! They also have ice sculptures etc. It's a fun event!

OMGosh.... 11 yr old is a dessert finatic. He LOVES anything chocolate. My 9 yr old desires carrots for dessert. And, both kids are from the same two parents! Anyway, after checking out those desserts~I know I will have to be ready with a camera to take my sons astonished look at the 'never ending' supply of sweets! ha ha ha... That is going to be something to talk about, I'm sure. Thanks for the pictures!

BTW, someone had the Mushroom Pastry.. Was it good? I love mushrooms! LMK.
