To the OP- I just started on my AA a few weeks ago so congrats on being finished with yours!:thumbsup2

I am not being sarcastic. I am sitting here red faced. When I first read about AA, I thought it had something to do with Alcoholics Anonymous. Could someone please enlighten me?

If you go back to the beginning of this thread, the main fact wasn't really about not feeding her family on the $300, but that she wanted to do the Character meal.. and that with $300 would not be doable.. the fact that some were thinking she had to pay for her MNSSHP tickets out of that .. and that would not be doable.. and the fact that out of that $300, she may or may not be paying for a taxi from the MK to the Nick hotel. She never stated how she was getting to and from the airport, all she stated was that she was going to have about $300 left over... and sure, you can feed a family of 3 for 3 days in Orlando for under, well under $300. I know I do it all the time. However, I also have credit cards with me for my unexpected emergency pop ups. She wasn't. That was how this entire thing started... many felt she was not going to be prepared if something happened (financially). here is the OP's fist post...~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"We leave tommorow for our 3 night vacation. I was already on a tight budget but now it just got a little bit tighter. Im really worried that I'm going to be flat broke and thats my ultimate fear while im on vacation!Ok so turns out that the rate I paid for the Nick Hotel did not include the resort fee AND they place a $100 hold on your credit card for incidentals . The resort fee will be around $90 for 3 nights. On the third day we will be going to MNSSHP . We can take the shuttle there but there is no shuttle back so we'll have to get a taxi. That leaves only about $ 300 for all of our food /snacks /souvenirs ( Not planning on buying any souvenirs ..maybe one souvenir each for the kids) . $300 just does not seem like enough money . Im so used to having the dining plan and staying on Disney property. Our room will have a full sized kitchen. We can save alot of money by cooking meals but we dont have a rental car ...Any food purchased will have to go into our checked luggage. What will I be able to pack to stretch our food budget? I was thinking of buying sodas /juice and putting it in the checked luggage but im worried it might explode .

BTW we do have the character breakfast booked (not paid for yet)and I was thinking of ordering Flippers for dinner one night and having it delivered .My kids are not gonna be thrilled to eat in the room .I was going to pack microwaveable chef boyardee and they bulked.

Any suggestions ?"

then few posts down she states....

"Unfortunately I don't have any credit cards or any extra money . The $300 is left over after I pay the resort and the hold. Im hoping the character breakfast does not cost us more than $70 . Its only one adult and two children."

so this is how it all started... not just to feed under $300 for 3 days....:goodvibes

Hmm... I don't think they have full kitchens at the Nick Hotel. All the rooms are pretty much the same, they have small fridge, microwave and coffeepot. A kitchenette? Hmmm.....

from all ears net
"What else might I want to know?

Balloons - Guests are asked to leave any balloons they purchase with Bell Services to be stored in the Luggage Room. Balloons pose a health risk to the animals if they were to get into the savanna."

I dont think a cm would hand kids balloons, only for them to be told they could not keep them.

Sounds like this "on a budget" poster too: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2669572
I just read some of that ... :lmao: OK.. I have gone with 3 kids.. alone, and that is a hard one to handle. It is next to impossible for anyone to go with a 3mo, 15mo, 5yr twins & 7.5yr old. I am not saying it can't be, but next to impossible.. surely not enjoyable.. and it does sound like this thread.. I guess there are a lot of posters out there.. and I do mean "out there"......

No, actually they do... if you are getting a one bedroom and up...

according to their website, they do have a 1 bedroom kitchen suite

Some of the rooms at the Nick Hotel...the suites to be exact do have a full kitchen. Several years ago we spent the first night of our disney trip at the nick hotel when they had that great special where you could get a suite for $79. plus the resort fee:banana: and it was a well stocked kitchen...even had glasses, pots and pans and other dishes. We left there to stay at pop century..oh how we missed that suite when we all (4 of us) pilled into our value hotel. But I tend to agree with many others...I think it is doable to spend 300 or less for three nights...but I would not feel comfortable going that far and not having any money available to me as a back-up...especially having two children with me.:goodvibes

I am not bothering to read 11 pages of "indictment" etc.. LOL!

But to the OP (if you are brave enough to return) you are the PARENT. They are the KIDS! When they "balk" at your suggestions, it's time to explain that to them and tell them when they pay for the trips they can set the menu until then.....

If you don't do this now it's going to get UGLY because they are "driving" this operation and ... it won't get better.

So give them two options. Go on your budget trip with cheap meals or STAY HOME! (And then perhaps it's time to cut back on vacations and make them "want" a trip a little more so they will be willing to be appreciative instead of "balking")

after re-reading your post.. I think you have the best advice here.. and it doesn't pertain to how to feed a family under $300 in Orlando, but who is in charge, the parent or the children... :thumbsup2 If they have gotten so to the point of balking at where they eat, it is time to not go for a while. ... or just show them, tuff, you will eat what you get and that is it!

There are some cruel posts in this thread, and little that actually helps the OP or anyone else.

Play nice, please.
