Most of us seem to have certain moments that let us know that we are finally there - that we're finally back in the magic.
Well, the Magic Shop was that place for me. As a kid, it was mysterious to me... A "Something Wicked This Way Comes" type of thing.
It was such a contrast to all of the other gift shops. The Happiest Place on Earth had a shop painted black where you could buy glow-in-the-dark skulls! Or otehr weird Halloweenish things. How cool was that? I used to save my money specifically for that place. I don't remember any other place in all the parks where I could have spent more money.
Then it was replaced by the Main Street Athletic Club. I understand that the retail real estate is valuable there. But the Magic Shop wasn't a retail store. It was really an attraction. I wonder how many other attractions could push through the same number of people per square foot as the Magic Shop?
How many golf shirts do we really need?
