Ok I really dont know where to put this question but here it goes!!!!!

Shorts are allowed in the water parks. What is not permitted on slides are any articles of clothing with exposed metal which could possibly scrape (and damage) the slides.

Just about all you see here are denim shorts. Not cut-offs but denim shorts are worn by all ages and just about everywhere.

I guess that us Texans don't care about fashion. ;)

I'm in North Texas also and before this thread I had never in my life ever heard of anyone making fun of jean shorts.

I can't help but laugh at the Gator posts. You guys see the Gators as favorably as we see Dook. Our perception may be a bit skewed. Ya think? ;)
FWIW, we live about an hour & a 1/2 south of Gainesville, & my DS & his friends will no longer wear the tattered look in jeans & won't wear jean shorts of any kind. It's obviously a cultural thing, & people should wear what they want as long as it's decent.

Oh, oh - I got this one. The short of choice for every teen and college age girl is the Nike tempo short.

Thank you for telling us the name of those shorts! I'm madly in love with that style, and in fact am wearing a pair of Target knock-offs right now. :)

I have no idea when, but it's been that way for quite a few years. For the record, I don't care what people wear. I'm sure people laugh at the way I dress too.

Love the pie chart.

I know people laugh at my clothes, in fact I was given the "Dee-Light Groovy Dresser" award in my senior year dorm thanks to my love for wearing rust-orange tights along with a periwinkle blue a-line dress, but I can't do the jean short. Well, there was a brief period when I was around 11, starting to be "built" but still slim, when I looked darned good in perfectly cut jeans that hit a perfect spot on my leg...but I'm far beyond that point.

I think there are a few times in one's life, for some people, when they are OK. But they have to be perfect. It's rare when both happen at the same time, IMO.

Gee, I missed out on another money-maker.

On a sidenote, as a laugh, watch old 'Magnum PI' reruns, just for the short shorts.....on Tom!

They worked on him. Most things worked on him. Most things work on him still. Most of us are not Tom Selleck.

Ahem... I'd like to pop in and say that not all jorts are created equal. I find these blanket statements regarding jorts to be misleading. Some are just fine while other jorts are just wrong. Allow me to illustrate.

Just Fine:

Well those are fine because of who is wearing them!

But while very very pregnant, the only thing I could fit into were DH's old jeans, cut off into shorts. The shorts themselves and where they hit on my leg were very similar to that first model/actress. But if someone would have thought they were "just fine" I would have been VERY surprised!!!!

O M G!! This post is too funny! I'm not sure if it's the almost 1500 views or the pages of replies!! Thanks for making me smile tonight.....I needed it!

BTW....let your daughter wear her jorts.....and enjoy her trip!!;)

To me "jorts" is how someone with an accent says "shorts" :confused3 That term is not used around where I live... I may be "old" but have kids 23, 21 & 17.. so I would have heard it had it been used here.

My DD goes up to Gainesville often and she wears cut off's once in a while. I agree, those should wear what is comfy for them. They aren't out to make a fashion statement especially at the parks, but do need comfort..

and by the way.. I hated his gator pics....;)

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:GO GATORS :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

That's too funny! I grew up in Bonita Springs and I learned the term "jorts" in high school in Ft Myers. Maybe it just never made it over to the Cape ;)

Well Duh! You guys wear belt buckles the size of hubcaps.

I kid, I kid!

and what is worn in Louisiana that makes you the fashion guru for the DIS ;)

j/k...

Could your posts be because we GATORS are a better team.... in our jorts and all :thumbsup2

Well it could be because we are Cape Comma... and may be behind the times a bit...
honestly, my kids have never used that term & I have never heard it until here..
where are you located at now since you said "grew up" in Bonita Springs...

Haha, Cape Coma! I haven't heard that in years!

I live in Tallahassee now. I moved up here from school and found a job so here I am...

I say sport the Jorts - they can't be any worse than the capri pants all the English men like to sport! :rotfl2:

Some do! However, that Gator jort photo collage was probably made by a Nole!

That being said, like previous posters have said, some jean shorts are not as bad as others. For theme park attire, I always prefer sundresses or tank tops and knit shorts to jean ANYTHING when it's hot...plus, denim is awful when it gets wet on a water ride and you have to walk around in it.
