I agree! While they may not be in fashion for the older set, but they still are for teens & young adults..... even cut off jean skirts.

Can I ask what exactly is wrong with jean shorts? Everyone keeps joking they are a fashion faux paux.....since when? I wore them constantly as a kid and I"m now 28 yrs. old and still wear them. I never knew there was a time they were "out". I see people wearing them everywhere and in fact saw several on E and ET the other night as fashion "do's" so what's the problem exactly?

Comfortable, durable, timeless; what more can you ask for?

I have no idea when, but it's been that way for quite a few years. For the record, I don't care what people wear. I'm sure people laugh at the way I dress too.

Both of my girls just bought a pair of these from Belk. The majority of their stock of jean shorts were cut offs with holes or some tearing.

Well, I see it as another way Kentucky is ahead of the curve. It's very green to reuse and recycle and that's what we've always done with our jeans. I used to have cutoff overalls. We just have to wait for them sophisticates to catch up.

Sorry to pile on here but as a Georgia/Tennessee fan I think that we are obligated to make fun of Florida fans for wearing jorts. It is all in good fun, I'm sure that there are plenty of things for the Florida fans to make fun of us over. Here's a great one of the Heisman trophy wearing jorts in honor of Tim Tebow.

Seriously, back to the OP question, other than being out of style I don't think that there is anything wrong with jorts. I am sure that you will see many other people in less appropiate attire. As long as the jorts cover her buttocks, I would say go for it.

I am not a fan of cut off shorts unless they are "finished" meaning they don't look like someone just took the scissors to them and cut willy nilly. Hemmed ones are okay.

Oh, oh - I got this one. The short of choice for every teen and college age girl is the Nike tempo short. The shorts are really made for running but they have been adopted by everyone. If you walk across most college campuses I think you will see plenty of these. It is almost like a uniform for girls this age and has been this way for about 4 years. They are very cool, go with any t-shirt and are very easy to launder (key for the college age girls). My older daughter says that a lot of the girls in the dorm even sleep in them.

Just about all you see here are denim shorts. Not cut-offs but denim shorts are worn by all ages and just about everywhere.

I guess that us Texans don't care about fashion.

If you are going during summer months, it may be too hot to wear jean material of any kind. Maybe she could wear them in the evening. She could wear them to the water park but then take them off when she is riding the slides. You will need to rent a locker at the water park to put all your belongings and towels in and just take your bathing suited body with you on the slides.

Hey, nothing wrong with a good pair of cut offs. In fact, it worked quite nicely for Daisy Duke.

The Nike tempo shorts that everyone wears would also be great for the water park or wet rides. They dry almost instantly and the darker colors especially aren't see thru if they get wet.

FYI, cutoffs and torn clothing are specifically not allowed at any signature dining locations. Proper denim shorts are ok if the are in good condition.
