The transportation system seems like a nightmare to me...so I need help figuring this out. We are staying at AKL. so if I want to get to MK? so if I want to get to AK? so if I want to get to Epcot? so if I want to get to MGM? so if I want to get to Disneyquest? or if I want to get from any of the theme parks to another hotel and then back to AKL? Thanks... :confused3

I don't think the transportation is as much a nightmare as you expect. You are on vacation so relax. For all of your transportation needs, you will have to take a bus. If you are in a GREAT hurry, there are taxi's that you can take. We have done that when going to a dinner in the evening and not wanting to wait for a bus. It can be a bit of an expense but it does save from being flustered or annoyed before that nice dinner.

The AKL is a bit out of the way, a beautiful resort but because of it's location, only bus service is available.

Have fun.

You can't get lost. It's too easy to get around. There are signs all over pointing you in the right direction.

AKL is actually the furthest away from all the parks. When I stayed there, it took a while to get to places, since the buses have a farther way to go.

There are many ways to get around the WDW property. Buses are probably the most popular and easiest. There are also boats and monorails in select locations.

AKL's only transportation is buses. If you have any questions down there, there are a lot of cast members around to guide you to your destination. Have fun, and enjoy yourself down there!! ::MickeyMo

it's not nearly as hard as it looks..buses go from the stop in front of the resort and it's marked where they go to so you know where to wait, same thing coming back. it's clearly marked at each park where to stand for each resort. buses go from parkto park. park to resort or resort to dtd.

the only trickyish part is going resort to resort. then you have to either take a bus to the closest park and then get one to the resort you are going to or get a bus to dtd and transfer there to the resort you are going to bus

the monorail only runs from ttc ( by mk) to epcot or in a loop around mk hotels

boats run from dtd to por, or the contemp. to WL and fort wilderness, or mk to fw, wl & the mk resorts (except i don't think they go to the contemporary on that run) or from epcot and mgm to the boardwalk/beach/yacht club resort area or from epcot to the swan/dolphin( different boats naturally as they are not interconnected)

allow an hr per trip and you'll be fine

we could get lost finding our way out of a paper bag( it's not a vacation till we get lost, usually on the way to the right freeway :rotfl: ) and we have no trouble with disney trans unless we try to drive at wdw ( which every time we are fool enough to try as soon as we arrive then realize it 's a big mistake)

The buses have destination signs on them. Just look for the location to wait and the sign on the bus.

AKL is the ONLY deluxe hotel that doesn't share busses with any other resort. So even though it may be a bit longer of a ride, the next stop will be your destination (for the most part). When the water parks are open, the DTD bus stops at TL and the MGM bus stops at BB.

So, for all your above questions, there is a dedicated bus to that destination. For DQ, you take the DTD bus and get off at the second stop. The first stop is the Marketplace and the second stop is for PI and West Side (where DQ is).

If you have any other questions or concerns, just ask.

You should do just fine with Disney transportation to and from the parks. You might consider a rental car or taxi if you plan on spending lots of time resort hopping or visiting Downtown Disney as those trips can be quite lengthy.
