Ok folks...

"Really didn’t mean to start anything but by the same accord I was not going to sit idly by and watch as moderators joined in on a thread geared to bash us. It might not be what they intended to do but it was what they ultimately did. I must say I don’t think it was a fight (at least in my part) more of bringing to light how certain things come off and how they can be interpreted by someone on the boards when it comes from a moderator. I apologize but really it was a do as I say not as I do type of situation"

Not that I am sensitive, but maybe I better not post here anymore since I am a moderator and I did post on that thread, but I did it to help....not to hurt anyone. I hope you all understand.. I will back away slowly now, you all take care.

Mackey you did help , greatly, please dont back away, you did not hurt anyone, im sure pgh would tell you the same but shes gone to the world for 10 days :)

Kiddo, I post on threads ALL the time that I know I incense folks. Sometimes intentionally, sometimes not. Life is a learning lesson, and a bulletin board is a small microcosm. Please post and state your mind, give your input, and tell us your thoughts.

OK.....way too sensitive and usually I can dish with the best.. I am back and will take all moderator remarks with a grain of salt.. (but please do not bash them as they volunteer their time, right Rick, right Orlando Mike, no pay, sometimes aggravation, those political threads kill me, but we do it because we love Disney...off the soapbox..

Heading to Bahsten, not for the Red Sox Parade, had to get that in...teehee, but to see the baby, my first grandchild,...he is actually so beautiful, those eyes can just melt you. Of course, I cannot post a pic because my daughter freaks out about that stuff.

OrlandoMike.. I do believe sir that you named them all, give that guy a side of beef and a baked potato, also the big salad....I am so proud of you. do not make me stop at the restaurant with the big fake cows out in front to have sirloin tips...and to get you Hilltop dressing....that place makes me craaaaaazy. My Mother loved it there, we would go, the kids would roll their eyes, BRING US THE BIG SALAD AND OF COURSE THE BOTTLE OF HILLTOP DRESSING... Oh God!!!! http://www.hilltopsteakhouse.com/ Look familiar Mike..

Hey, Rick, you live in NY...do you know anything about Marc Lustgarten, a CEO in Cablevision who passed away from Cancer... Anyway, we did a walk for his foundation for research and then Oprah did a show about Randy Pausch, google him, wonderful, powerful man facing a terrible illness. I do not want to bring anyone down, but his speeches are incredible. So my Liberal daughter, I have a very liberal daughter, wrote the most powerful letter to Oprah....I thought the Lustgarten Foundation would like to see it and they asked if they could post it on their blog... they are working out the details. When it is posted, I will link so others can read it..

and lastly hugs to my pm buddy, NYBlue...you keep NY safe and you have been the best to me and for that I thank you..

OK.. now if you would just stop talking in code, this older woman would post more.. or I have to call my guy friends and ask...what does this mean?? :rotfl2:

I just looked over the menu, what, no Lobster Pie anymore? What gives?:confused3

We used to each get a steak, and a big ole Lobster Pie for the table to split!

*whispers* Is there a vegetarian version?! :hippie:

Considering the place has about 20 fiberglass cows out in front of it, I dont think it's a very good option for Vegetarians! :lmao:

But the house Salad Dressing is to die for!

Oy! To you both! LOL. That's always the case, I can only get salads when I go to a steakhouse. On a side note, just so you know, if you ever eat at Texas Longhorn Steakhouse, or one of those that has the similar name, before you order the rice and the baked potato, make sure you ask how they're prepared. They rub SOLID BACON FAT all over the potatoes before they bake them, and they use beef broth in their rice pilaf. The only thing my friend, who's a veggie lover could eat was the Applesauce, Mac & Cheese, and House Salad. LOL.

Yes. Lots of restaurants do things like that. Beef or chicken broth has become common in rice and on vegetables. Also, lots of places that tell you they cook food separately will put the "vegetarian" option right beside the frying burgers on the grill.

I've learned to be VERY precise and detailed in my questioning about food preparation. But, I still get really sick every now and then. (I react badly to fewer foods than I used to, but the reaction is much worse than it used to be.)

One of the things I love about disney is that they make me vegetarian food that is really and truly vegetarian! :yay:

I'm a HUGE steak person (love the Yachtsman) but one of my favorite dishes on property is the coconut-crusted tofu at the Brown Derby. It's soooooo good.

And with a quick search I found the recipie!

Recipes
Thai Noodle Bowl

Hollywood Brown Derby
Disney-MGM Studios

Ingredients

3 oz. baby bok choy
4 oz. yellow Thai noodles
1 oz. shredded coconut meat
1 oz. lemon grass
1 1/4 oz. fresh snow pea pods
1/2 oz. shiitake mushrooms
6 oz. miso broth (recipe below)
4 oz. firm tofu
1 1/2 oz. red curry
1/2 oz. scallions

Method:

Bread the tofu with coconut and pan fry. In a separate pan, add bok chok and mushrooms and deglaze with miso broth. Finish with noodle and curry. Place nori in a coupe bowl and add noodles and broth mixture, top with tofu and garnish with lemon grass.

MISO BROTH

Ingredients

1 1/2 quarts water
8 oz. red miso paste
1/2 jalapeno, rough chopped
2 oz. soy sauce
2 oz. rice wine vinegar
1 tsp unpeeled ginger root, rough chopped
1 tsp lemon grass, rough chopped
1 TB sesame oil
1 clove garlic
4 oz. tomato juice

Method:

Place all ingredients in a pot and bring to a slow simmer for one hour.

Is there any other way to bake a potato? (look, a healthy banana!! to celebrate Pork Fat Rules week!)

One potato
One sheet of foil
One handful of bacon fat
Salt & pepper to taste

Clean potato
Rub fat on potato
Salt & pepper potato
wrap in foil

Bake at 350 (until gold and bubbly!)

Serve with butter, sour cream, cheddar cheese, chives, bacon bits (hey, you got the fat from it!)

Randall

P.S. - bacon fat really doesn't get 'solid' unless you refrigerate it
:rainbow:

OK.....up here in the northeast portion of the USA....I bake a baked potato by washing it, poking holes in it and then I put it in the oven to bake..

Who knew you were suppose to put bacon fat on it... who saves bacon fat??? Sorry... I am chuckling here.

I had my first hushpuppy last March and I though oh donut holes....I ate one, thought this is pretty good, then the person I was with said you are suppose to put butter on it. BUTTER?????? ON A DONUT HOLE. I tried it, it was pretty good, that was the same visit I tried deep fried gizzards and chicken livers, they do know how to eat in the South.. ;) :)

And remember to wash it down with some Sweet Tea!

"Deep fried gizzards and chicken livers" NEVER!!!
Give me livermush any day.

There's a little restaurant in Haines City near downtown. I don't even know what it's called because the big sign that says "Home of the best deep-fried gizzards in town! Jesus cares about you and so do we!" always catches me off guard.

I mean, who else in town actually SERVES deep-fried gizzards? And if you care about us why subject us to them?

Livermush (or Liver Mush or Liver Pudding) is a Southern United States foodstuff composed of pig liver, head parts, and cornmeal. It is commonly spiced with pepper and sage. Considered a more tolerable version of scrapple, livermush was most likely brought south through the Appalachian mountains by German settlers from Philadelphia. Livermush is colloquially known as poor man's or poor boy's pâté.:lmao:

Thats some good eat'n right up there with hog jaws. LOL
