I can tell you that the closest one is the one on John Young Pkwy. It's about 9 miles from the Swan and Dolphin.

I know that it wouldn't be a problem for me, because we drive down to Disney. Hopefully, this information will help you out.

Good luck!!

Sorry I missed out on this thread for the past few days, but I'm hoping that I can still add something.

First off congratulations to both of you for joining Curves. I think it's great -- so great, in fact, that I work there part-time now!!

The 3x/week thing is the RECOMMENDED workout. When I'm showing a prospective new member the circuit, I tell them that they can work out as many times as they want, but on the "extra" times they need to work lighter on the machines and more on the aerobic. This lets your muscles relax, like they intend.

I would agree that since your location is so new, they're being a little more rigid. A lot of people like to come in every day, just so that it's part of their daily routine. I would feel awful telling someone "no, you can't come tomorrow"!!!

Curves are franchises, so each franchisee will have different "rules". Since they are popping up all over the place, if there's another one close to you that's less rigid, have your membership transferred there, if you'll feel more comfortable.

Good luck. You WILL lose inches, as long as you stick to it!

Hey Disneyaholic, since you work there... you can be our Curves Coach!!! I'll need all the motivation I can get!

Sure, I'll be glad to! Just wondering -- with all the chatting that goes on around here -- if everyone will remember to change stations at the right time??? ;)

Good Morning!!

Wanted to let everyone know that the owner of my Curves location is in the process of building another Curves location near WDW - it's going to be closer than the one on John Young - it will be in Celebration......they are building the strip mall that Curves will be in, and scheduled right now to open Jan 2004.

Snoopy and Mercy - what Curves location do you go to?

Flower, thanks, that location will work for me. Also look forward to the Celebration location opening.

Disneyaholic, its great to know we have an expert on board! :)

mishoe01, I go to the Arlington, VA Curves location. I live in D.C. (Georgetown) but work in Arlington, and since I'm at work more then I am at home ( :( ) I figured I was better of signing up in Arlington.

Hit one: OK, I read this thread at the end of the work day yesterday.
Hit two: I get home from work and there's a flyer on my door...a new Curves has opened up 1.5 miles from my house.
Hit three: I'm getting ready to leave work today and my co-worker says "I'm so proud of my daughter, she lost 50 lbs, she's been going to Curves!"
So, guess where I stopped on my way home tonight?
I signed up for one month (to make sure I'm really going to go!). Friday is my first visit where I'll be taken thru the full circuit. Did try out a couple of the resistance machines this evening. Loved the place, loved the owner, chatted with several people who were working out there.....this looks very promising.
Looks like we'll be needing our own CURVES check-in thread!:Pinkbounc

Thanks for all the info on Curves. I just discovered one right near me that I'm thinking about joining after we get back from our WDW trip in 2 wks. I really want to find somewhere with a good pool that's affordable, but Curves does sound like fun.
My biggest concern is that all the Curves locations around here seem to close at the first hint of a snowflake, often even before schools are closed. If we have a winter like we did last year that would mean they would not be open very much!
I am going to go over & check it out as soon as we get back from our trip though. I really like the idea of resistance training along with the aerobic workout that curves seems to offer.

Hi guys, wow... everyone's joining Curves!!

mishoe01.... I go to one in Owings Mills.

Snoopy... how did you do, did you go for your first workout?

I went for my 2nd workout on Tuesday, this time I was able to go around the curcuit by myself. Of course the instructors are there to assist you if needed. Again, I worked up a pretty good sweat. I was going to go yesterday also, but I had a terrible day at work and wasn't feeling very well due to that "womanly" thing  There was some discussion on another thread about the number of times you can go in a week, when I asked, they said as often as you like. They recommend 3X, but if you are at a fitness level where you can handle more, than you can go more.

I'm not sure if I'll get there the rest of the week... depends how Hurricane Isabel behaves!
