So I am once again planning a big blow out Disney trip for 2014 and I have a few options.. We can stay at the value or i found this crazy idea but i need all your expert advice before i really start planning the crazy side of this trip..

Here are my questions:

1. Has anyone ever rented a rv/trailer? I found a company that does Fort Wilderness packages... (Meachams rentals)

2. How do you plan your dinning part of the trip? To cook more or not

3. Does Garden Grocer deliver to the Campground?

4. Does magical express go to the campground?

5. What are4as are close to showers

I am sure I will have more questions thanks all for the advice.....:goodvibes

1. Yes, this is done occasionally. When you add the site and the RV rental it's as much or more than a Value resort.

2. We eat out mostly and eat breakfast at the RV.

3. Yes, they deliver.

4. Yes, ME is available at FW.

5. You're never too far away from a bathroom.

I think it's a great way to see Disney. I've been looking at renting them too.
We just decided to go to Disney last week and we have to stay at a value resort because its an unplanned trip. Giving me only two weeks to plan, so its means we have to go cheap.
If I could have gotten a campsite I would have rented a pop up or trailer.
I found a lot of places online that rent and deliver free to the fort.

1. Has anyone ever rented a rv/trailer? No but I want too...

2. How do you plan your dinning part of the trip?
When we stay at the cabins, we do find that we cook out more, we really save a lot more then you would think.

3. Does Garden Grocer deliver to the Campground? Yes

4. Does magical express go to the campground? Yes

5. What are4as are close to showers. Yes they are really close by

I love staying at the Fort Wildeness cabins so much thats its killing me knowing that I will be in a small room with my two grandchildren.
They can't even sit on the porch as there is none at All Stars Sport. lol

We got 8 night for $1300 for All stars Sports with AP rate
I did price out cabins for $3334 with AP but I just can't do it right now.

I know that the camp site would have been cheaper then $1300 and then all I would have to do is look for pop up or trailer.
Most pop up are renting for $60 a night and trailer around $100.
So with both it would have been around 1600 to 2000 way cheaper than renting Fort Wilderness cabin which priced at $3334 for 8 nights with AP.

So I'm really thinking about renting a camper in the summer time as I love the fort...

I think much depends on what you're trying to accomplish with this trip. Fort Wilderness provides for a unique experience at Disney that you simply cannot get anywhere else, it also permits up to 10 people to stay together on a single site which can be absolutely amazing for some groups.

There are several companies providing rentals that will setup and take-down for you (do a search on this site), as mentioned above the cost of the site plus the rental will be similar to a value resort, if you opt for a golf cart the cost could be much higher than a value.

If you're a larger group and have some camping experience I think it could be just thing to make you're trip unforgettable. If you're a smaller group with no camping experience I would recommend a value resort with a visit or two to Fort Wilderness.

I'm just thinking about what I have in my camper and I know all of its not needed but...
What does your camper come with and what will you have to buy or bring besides food.
Stove, fridge, ice trays, cooler, microwave, pots and pans, coffee pot, toaster, pitcher, can opener, spatula, knife, at least 1 fork and a big spoon to cook with, dish towels, dish rags, washcloths, towels, pillows, sheets, blankets, dish towels, pot holders, sleeping bags, paper plates & bowls, paper cups for cold and hot, plastic silverware, paper towels, toilet paper, baggies, aluminum foil, garbage bags, bug spray for yourself and camper, broom, matches or lighter for grill, charcoal, dish detergent, sink or pans to wash dishes in, if it has a bathroom you will need chemicals for your toilet and cleaner. Might want a table cloth for your picnic table. Ponchos or umbrella for the rain & flashlight when going to the bath house. Will it have cabinets for your food? If not plastic bins are good.

I just mentioned this because once my parents rented a camper(not at disney) and it was empty but we were close to home! LOL!
We had a great time! It was our first camping trip! After that my parents bought a camper! If you can camp near home one week end it might help your experience at Disney. Would let you know what you needed or even if you liked it!

This is so great! I'm thinking of renting a pop up or an rv too for a may trip. Still trying to scrap together the $. I've never stayed at Ft. Wilderness but I've always wanted too. Love that Meachems allows pets! :cool1:
