We're planning on dinner at Ohana's one night. We will have an 13 y.o. :sad2: that is a very picky eater. Are there other options available for his dinner besides the $25 family style dinner which I'm sure he will not eat? I have read something about a kids menu being available, but am not sure if they would let a 13 y.o. order from it. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated!

They were 12 and 9. They're not what I would call super picky, though they're mac & cheese and cheeseburger type guys in general. They didn't really care for the green salad - which I LOVED, but they thought those giant meat skewers were just great, and they really liked the cheesy potatoes, and the wonton fry things, which were like chips (I didn't care much for them). For our little one (barely 2yo) they actually brought her a bowl of strawberries, and if I remember right, a bowl of noodles or something plain like that. They were really quite accommodating for the kids, we thought. I can't really remember if there's a kids menu, but you can check that at allears. If so, they'll let anyone order off it. Our boys both ordered off the kids menus at several different restaurants.

My kids ordered kids meals -- chicken tenders and fries and they got a bowl of ice cream for dessert. But they did cost $15 each with tax and the tip which they added on themselves. I thought it was a rip off.

When we were there last month our "cousin" told us when he took our drink order that if our children (4 and 8) didn't enjoy the family style meal then he could get them a children's meal. He offered us several options--mac n cheese (our 4 year old had this), chicken tenders and fries (our 8 year old had this) and a few other options. He seemed quite accomodating and not upset in the least that the kids preferred other food than what was served. For dessert the kids each got a dish of plain vanilla ice cream all to themselves.

The cost of the kids' meals was the same as if they had eaten the family style dinner. It was still the regular price for them which didn't phase me at all. I didn't expect a discount in price because they were eating something else. We went knowing what it costs. Having the option to get them a different plate of something that was more appealing was a bonus!

Well, this experience was years ago, but maybe it still applies. I visited 'Ohana with a very large group of women in November, 2000. My best friend is a VERY picky eater. (The only place she'll eat at in Epcot is the American pavilion, and she doesn't eat anything from the booths during the F&WF.) We're talking a meat and potatoes kind of gal.

She was very worried about the 'Ohana dinner and initially asked if she could just sit with us because she didn't want anything even remotely "weird." The chef came out and spoke to her directly, and he ended up grilling a steak and baked potato for her, both of which she loved. She was happy; the rest of us were happy, and the chef was happy. I'm pretty sure she paid full 'Ohana price for that steak and potato.

But that was five and a half years ago, so I don't know if they still do that. If I were you, I would emphasize the *extremity* of your picky eater's pickiness.

Good luck! I hope you enjoy your dinner there!

We went to Ohana on our last trip, and had two sixteen year olds with us. They didn't care for anything, and although we didn't request something special, our server saw that they weren't touching anything and brought over a plate of mac and cheese and chicken fingers.

Thanks for the replies. For what yall are telling me is that my 13 y.o. will be able to order something off the menu that he may prefer...I just need to expect to pay the $25 adult Ohana's price. Is this correct?
